A fully healthy team with a decent PP should be enough to get back in the playoffs
I think it was the real Karlsson you saw towards the end of last season.
My hot take….the Pens make the playoffs and win their first round matchup. I'll say that a deadline trade and a late season call up provide the spark.
The last time that a Pens defenseman scored 100 points was 89-90 by Paul Coffey. Do you think that we could see that from Letang or Karlsson before they retire?
Do you see anyone getting traded between the start of the season and the All-Star break? Or, do they wait until the trading deadline to make moves?
My guess is they miss the playoffs. But if hayes becomes half the player he used to be and beauvillier can get back to playing like he did with the islanders and lizotte puts up 10 to 12 goals on the 4th line it's possible. I think grzelcyk is an upgrade over po joseph. St ivany will take another step forward.
Don't sign 87. After the All Star game trade Sidney Crosby, Marcus Pettersson, Sam Poulin and a 2nd round pick to the Edmonton Oilers for Matthew Savoie, Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, Sam OReilly, and a 1st round pick. Crosby can win the Cup for himself, Edmonton, and Canada adding to his legacy. 87 can sign a 1 year deal with the Pens in the offseason and become a Stanley Cup mercenary while simultaneously rebuilding the Penguins yearly. He could become a champion and rebuild the Pens. Loyalty to the Pens should be to the future lineup.
