The Edmonton Oilers have announced the hiring of former Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.
The Edmonton Oilers will hold a press conference welcoming Bowman while answering some questions on the matter.

Brutal decision
Stan and Jeff should hire Kyle Beach ⛱️
After their playoff run and all the offseason work done by Jeff Jackson, they would have done better to hire a potted plant as their new GM than Bowman. Not only is Bowman going to be bringing an unpleasant smell into Edmonton that's not just more wildfire smoke, but he was a terrible GM in his last few years in Chicago.
I hope all the people who say they won’t support this team actually follow through with that. I’ll be happy to go watch and support my team with a bunch of empty seats next to me.
The fact is, Bowman was going to get another job somewhere in the league, so I’m glad he’s coming to Edmonton instead of those places.

Too late for me to vote in the pole, but put me down as thinking it was a poor decision.
Bowman! As an Oilers fan this breaks my heart. We have the best fans in the world, as a reward we are stuck with this heartless monster that covered up and protected a sexual predator, allowing them to offend again and again. Until this man is fired, my wallet and support are shut off to this organization. I'm not watching a single game, buying a single jersey, or supporting them publicly in any way. Some principles cannot be compromised, and I will never support those that allow young men to be assaulted by protecting the predator.
Terrible decision and look for the team. So disappointed for an organization to onboard this toxic individual and hope it has no impact on the product on the ice
Best reason I can come up with is that no other GM candidates were ok with having no autonomy. I believe Jeff Jackson will be calling all the shots but day to day GM work is not something he can do for reasons of work home life and family. Bowman has proven he can inherit a stacked team and lead them to cups and was probably willing to agree to having no real authority. The trick will be getting rid of him after the cups so he doesn’t run the team into the ground like what he did at the end of his days in Chicago.
Arguably the most prized position in professional sports goes to this guy of all people… What a stain on this organization from here on out.
I think we need to give Stan BOWMAN a chance to redeem himself
