Unless Levi gets much NHL time.. he's probably getting a 3 year deal… still, I would not be surprised if UPL goes on the rack for a few weeks and ends up riding pine the rest of the year

UPL was no fluke. Im a Goalie. I can tell you, his technique and the way he approaches the game is different, more compact (mostly) tracks the puck much better, hes finding ways to win those close games and has been more consistent. Take a breather, UPL is only getting better

If someone will take Krebs (Sabres 13th forward), I'd trade him. Not sure how much value he has? 2nd? late 1st rounder? Or just keep him as injury insurance?
Contact was probably a bit more than GMKA wanted to initially sign him to but to get the deal done a about extra $1mil per or so to get the deal done is not bad at all.
I love both signings tbh. Malenstyn is a great hitter, and UPLs payout is good I think. I still don't have full faith unless he does as well this year. If he does, then he will only get better! Locked in til he turns 30 and he has a NMC oddly, for just his last 3 years. If UPL can do as good as last year with this current roster (which I believe is way better than last years), then we should be in good shape. Food for thought, Demko got 5 x 5, so UPL just got a little bit lower. So Demko should be the standard we compare him with.
If UPL continues his play from January on, that will be amazing
Adams does it again. I think it's a great contract. The Sabres are going to be phenomenal within a few years. We just need our fans to stay with the program.

The contract was pretty much what I expected. I've been saying 5 for 5 since the off season started.
We have to be prepared for Levi potentially earning a lot more than UPL got if he shows up in the next 2 years.
Swayman showed he’s a true #1 and now he’s looking at $9-$10 million per season. So we could possibly be looking at a $6-$7+ million contract.
I was more surprised by the term over the salary. If UPL continues on the trend he finished the season with then this contract will be considered steal.
I am for one pleased with our off-season. Time will tell and I know some disagree but I don’t think we will miss Savoie at all.
Thinking Krebs will be signed soon, his contract was not a priority over the other two that just settled .

2X3.5 would have set us up for 3 X 8.5. He’s going to dominate and we are going to compete for the division
Totally fine, now if Adam’s goes and gets a 5-8 million dollar player the puzzle will be complete.
Really hoping for a lot of these young players to have break-out seasons again or for the first time for our goal-scoring though.
Quinn, Benson, JJ, Cozens, and even TT and Tuch need to have good to amazing years for us to get the goal production we need to make the play-offs.
Hopefully all the grit added to the team gives them more confidence to be more aggressive / physical in the offensive zone, we can only hope.
I congratulate both sides and not creating drama. UPL didn't steal from his teammates. GMKA didn't cheat the future. Levi is still the future. Look how long it took UPL to get to this point. He's still small, his focus on the puck is incredible. Watch him… Go Sabres… Go Bills…

I'd sign Krebs for 2 yrs, & see if he'll be a late bloomer.
If not, then trade him.
I think that with this signing there's a reasonable chance Sabres makes the playoffs within the next five years at least once.

I think it's a small overpay but if he plays like he did last year it'll be fine
Bite your tongue about trading Levi. Don't even go there. Levi will be in the nets for Buffalo when we win the cup make no mistake. I'm 60 years old I've played goal and coached goalies. UPL is not going to beat out Levi in the long run so what will you do when Levi wants a contract and you have two goalies your paying over 10 million for ? I don't think a 5 year deal was the best for the team.

Great contract for both sides. Sabres provided a fair contract based on a one year performance which was incredible due to the under performing team around him. Let be honest the production from numerous players could have had most goalies throwing in the towel. UPL in my opinion became a leader in the clubhouse and a co-caption candidate for this year team. UPL could have drag this out for more money but he didn't. Sabres are in a great position with two goalies with fire in their bellies. For UPL this shows to me that he is ready and willing to lead the Sabres to the promise land.
Sabres have satisfied most if not all of the issues outside of playing hockey. Ruff was hired to fix though issues. Sabres now have a can do coach with a can do goalie. I looked forward to the upcoming season to see a team unlocking their potential. Go Sabres.

It reminds me Levi and UPL – Levi a golden child whereas UPL earned his starter job the hard way.
I would not be entirely surprised if Levi actually didn't pan out and Luukonnen became a solid no 1 for years to come, I guess the time will tell.

His tactics have changed. Before he chased the puck leading to bad goals. Now he’s staying more in his net and results are showing in spades. UPL will be just fine.
If UPL and Levi turn into a Swayman Ullmark situation for the Sabres. You could trade UPL for a 1st. So you would get a ton of value if both our Goalies turn out to be very good and with this contract we are in a very good situation if that happens.

cozens problem last year was he was forced to be an enforcer. That's not his role…. hopefully the additions in the bottom 6 fix this.
I like the UPL contract. It can be moved as others have pointed out. I still think the Sabre's think Levi is going to be the #1 in a few years. Hopefully this has them set in net for years to come.
If UPL can replicate the post Christmas form he showed this wilbe a solid deal, remember his stats were hurt by how often Granato left him in during blowouts. If Levi performs a similar trick then Buffalo will be in an envious position, probably the best duo since Miller/Biron or even when Hasek/Fuhr won the Jennings. It's a positive move for me and fills me with genuine hope for the season. 😊
