    Guessing this will include a invite to NHL camp (PTO) which will be fun to see him play a game with Willy

    I like it. Obviously low risk with it being an AHL contract. Im sure he’ll be called up at some point due to injuries and he played well with the jackets last year.

    All I ask is that he somehow gets to play on a line with Willy in preseason, maybe on a PTO or something if that’s possible? Would love to see it, hated when that chance was taken from them internationally years ago.

    He definitely could have got an NHL contract after his end to the season last year. I wonder if thereā€™s a handshake agreement on an NHL deal, but this lets them start him with the Marlies without waivers.

    For those wondering why itā€™s AHL and not a NHL minimum – I believe itā€™s waivers related. This way he can come to camp and if he doesnā€™t make it, be assigned to the AHL without waivers. If he plays well, can be converted to a two-way at league min.

    This is a good compromise for the fans. Alex gets into the organization but he doesnā€™t get a guaranteed nhl deal
