Bad defensively but his goals, 5v5 scoring, primary scoring and chance generation are all top line to elite level. He doesnt just grade out as top liner in them, which many still claim he isnt, but he grades out as a high end top liner in them.
While I think TK should have been traded and the team should have committed to a proper rebuild, TK has become a dynamic bona fide top liner that is still underrated by most.
Hes not some average 2nd liner (or worse like some ridiculously claim) on a good team. TK is a legit great top liner compared to rest of league too.

This is a sick graphic. I would love for NHL to have some sort of equivalent to what the MLB has in terms of baseballsavant. Maybe it already exists but I’m unaware of it.

TK is the guy and I’m very happy to have him around for the long run. Been our best player for a while now.

Yeah but guys, he doesn’t fit the timeline. The entire rebuild is now ruined because we signed out best player to a contract he deserved. Doesn’t anyone know how a rebuild works? We keep selling all of our best players for more picks and stuff. I’m so angry that my favorite team did this that I’m just going to keep watching them and complain about them.

Also, for all the talk of Couts being overused last season, the Flyers were burning the TK candle at both ends.
Among Flyers forwards, TK ranked:
– 1st in TOI (Time On Ice) per game [5v5] – 1st in TOI per game [4v4] – 3rd in TOI per game [4v5] – 1st in TOI per game [3v3]
For basically any usage stat last season, TK was the top Flyers player regardless of position, with the top D pairing of Sanheim and York usually being the only exceptions.
I haven’t looked into these microstats at all (and tbh I don’t put a *ton* of stock into these kinds of advanced analytics), but it stands to reason that the more minutes you log, the harder it becomes to score well in these efficiency metrics. The fact that he still graded out so well, while being ridden like a horse, says a lot about the kind of season TK just had.

TK going to be holding a cup with the Flyers

Over the past two seasons, Konecny has more 5v5 goals than players such as:
Jack Eichel Matthew Tkachuk Bo Horvat Chris Kreider Steven Stamkos Sam Reinhart Leon Draisaitl John Tavares Patrick Kane Mitch Marner
Among others. Imagine the respect he’d get if he played on anything other than such a dogshit PP. TK is not a perfect player or best in the league at any one thing, but he is the one player who deserves an extension out of anyone.
