Thanks for the reminder re: the rumour mill:
1. We are in the "dog days" of summer…..a "hockey desert"….not much happening so we eat & breathe these rumours. I enjoy it….fun to speculate.
2. I appreciate all the time you spend scouting out all the reports, news, podcasts, etc, of the "insiders" and presenting the gist of it all here on TSH…..damn….I sure as heck don't have time to do all the research you do. I appreciate coming to TSH on a daily basis to get the latest updates and rumours. Saves me a ton of time AND I enjoy it.

the real question is: is Marner actually worth what he's going to demand?….he's going to demand a long term contract, and maybe in the short-term the Hawks could afford him, but two or three years down the road Marner's contract could become problematic…like it is for the Leafs now…
I hope we don't resign Mitch…..let him play out his last year then use the cap space to sign 2 or 3 SOLID playoff style guys. 🎉
Marner would be perfect in Chicago, he doesn't have to worry about playoffs for a while
Boeser won't make it to UFA. He's our best winger, loves the city and we love him. He's also part of the core and JT's go to guy and him, JT, Quinn and EP are all very close.
He will get the something slightly less than the contract JT got, 7× 8 million. He's massively out performed Konectny and will still sign a cheaper deal. He's made it very clear he wants to stay and the contract will show that.
Latest rumour here was around 7.85 a million dollar raise which favoured him until last season due to injuries and shit coaching.
Anyone needing to claim they have sources are full of shit. They will not take any payout with Nurse making 9 million. Those 3 will take up 40 million in cap and will be the new leaf core.
The funniest thing is #97 is the reason the hack Bouchard and the pissy, lazy no defense overrated German even sniff 15 million and 10 million.
Anyone who thinks Bouchard will take less than Nurse is on crack.
They are part of a powerful union and individual contracts affect the market, only goats take discounts on their retirement deals. Unless they ditch Nurse the oilers will be a team with no cap for depth. McDrai will get 16 and 14 each, that's a given.
I should clarify that Brock would take a slight cut because he was overpaid on his previous deal wasnt his fault but it is what it is.
Drai was massively underpaid based on his performance.
Anaheim is building something special. IF they keep developing and drafting well they will be back in the playoffs in two or three years with the potential to be a top five NHL team in four or five years. As good as Laine is he just doesn't fit with what Verbeek is building. There is just too much to worry about and the young players do not need that kind of distraction if things go south. I wish him well but I would say no to him joining the Ducks.

The Oilers should go for the Cup next year. After the season is over the Oilers should sign Leon to max money and term. Next, sign and trade Leon Draisaitl to the Senators for Brady Tkachuk. German Leon Draisaitl can play with German Tim Stutzle for the Sens. The Oilers can continue to build around 97 and Brady Tkachuk who has a AAV of $8.205.
That unprotected 1st rd pick is tempting/appealing…with a couple of more pieces for Mitch Marner(maybe a 2nd rounder as well and a top prospect)…and no salary retention…Toronto could take back a contract if necessary…but if I'm Kyle Davidson, i wait till F/A bc it only costs you cap space then…but if available much earlier in the season, an extension sign and trade whether its two years, 4 yrs or a max extension would be required…Chicago does have quite a few extra picks…and prospects…Chicago is in the driver's seat though. They dont have to rush the process(!)…Boeser and Ehlers as you said are two other very good pieces that might be available and would be significant adds to Chicago's squad fs. But adding another top 5 or top 10 pick at the next draft is never a bad idea.
Necas 6,5M and 2 year will be traided to Columbus soon and Laine to Carolina

Didn't the Leafs get cute with Nylander last summer and he torched the league? Hoping the pressure helps Mitch find another level but really all the whining from Leafs Nation AM radio types, Mitch was never overpaid, 10.7 in a league where Travis Koency makes 8.5?
Leafs would be prudent to try to lock Mitch down now but this team is beholden to the fragile ego of their fanbase. Just extend Mitch and make them like it.
Ducks won’t be getting Laine with that offer if other teams are also in the mix.
Marner is not leaving prior to UFA status, full stop. Going to Chicago is definitely a possibility if the leafs don’t offer him an extension but odds are he does his usual all star play during the regular season, the media and Treliving get enamoured and just like Nylander is signed to an 8 year extension in season.
