  1. Laine in Mtl, I don’t think we need his type of problems, he wont be able to take the Mtl pressure and get back on the program! Let the spot open for our young studs coming up.

  2. The most logical place for Laine is a return to Winnipeg. That makes sense for both the player and the team.

  3. Id be pissed as a Columbus fan, losing laine for jordon Harris, and even a 2nd round pick, I hope they make a little better offer then that, Habs NEED goal scoring, without Laine they are the exact same team as they were last season! But a lot of Habs fans expect to see a huge improvement, I dont see it, unless they add someone who can put the puck in the net, and i know they will have kirby dach this year, he only played 2 games last year, trust me, i like Dach, but he isn't enough to get us over that line, not saying Laine is, but if he works out, and we resign him, and when Demidov gets here, at least we have a legit bottom 6, and good D, with Fowler coming up, the team could be done the rebuild sooner then later, that's IF Laine comes, and works out, maybe he comes, plays 5 games, and cries and wants to go somewhere else! lol, who knows!!!

  4. Still think Laine is an incredible risk. His play has been brutal last 3 years, gets hurt a lot, and has has some off ice issues he's still trying to resolve. That contract he has is nuts. He hasn't even earned half of it. Think the Canes will determine he's not worth going through all kinds of hoops to fit him under the cap. CBJ has to either retain money, or take back a questionable contract in return.

  5. Great report Mike!
Re: Xhekaj & Barron signings by Habs: good move by Hughes to get both these guys signed for 2 years at reasonable contracts too. I think both have solid potential and after 2 years we'll have a better idea how well they've improved.
Re: Jordan Harris: Agreed! He's definitely "trade bait" at this point. Habs have a solid young "D" corps and they all can't play!!! Someone will have to go and Harris seems the most likely choice.
Re: Habs & Laine: I'm still up in the air on this. The Q I keep asking myself is "will Laine make Habs a better and more competitive team?" Part of me says yes if he regains his sniper form BUT the other part of me says no if he's the same defensive liability he has been.
If Habs can get him for Harris and a draft pick and retained salary…..go for it and see how the "experiment" works for 1 year….if he's a bust…..cut bait & move on.

  6. Excellent report, as always—-IMHO, Laine has been an underachiever from the start, he has yet to have that outstanding breakout season that everyone has been waiting for,

  7. Pierre was just on Tonys podcast talking about Harris and saying Mailloux could force their hand if he makes the team out of camp

  8. I guess his could work for the Canadians. They are getting close to competing and being a good team. The Timeline may fit with him.
