[Nicolas Cloutier] I just spoke to Guhle’s agent, Allain Roy. Guhle’s camp tested the waters for going up 8 years at a salary similar to Jake Sanderson’s, but it was a firm “no” from Kent Hughes’ side.

Yeah I can imagine the Habs wanting a 8 years deal at around 5.5 or a bit more, but definitely not 8M.

Proving you can stay healthy before asking for 8 years is usually a starting point.

If this was Berg. he would’ve signed him 14 year at 8.5m

Can’t blame a guy for trying but this contract is perfect for both sides IMO.

Sanderson has more offensive ability and that comes at a premium.

I like this bit of information even more than the Guhle contract itself tbh. Hughes means business.

Also we still have him under his old contract for another year so he’s locked up for 7 years. I love Guhle but locking him up for 9 years under an expensive contract is way too risky

I mean ye, he’s a premium version of Esa Lindell, not a 1PP QB

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. 8×8 for Guhle would have been crazy.

  10. I sure hope so …

I mean, I like Guhle but he’s no Sanderson.

Habs have all the pieces for the core. Now we sit back, watch the kids develop and hope they reach their potential

I really think Kent is doing a stellar job with contracts.

I think it’s a win-win for both Guhle and the franchise. I get why his agent wanted a bigger contract with more money but Kent did a wonderful job not giving in.
