Mercer WILL be as important as the rest. His game is different then theirs. He's the new Parise. He never quits. And he is sneaky good. He has incredible hands and is very smart. If he gets traded it'll be a sad day for NJ
Who would Florida be able to get for Ekblad? It doesn't make sense if it depletes their defense. It is already depleted enough as it is.

Re: Habs signing Guehle: great signing. He will continue to develop and will be a top 4 "D" for Habs into the future. I'm excited to see how the Habs "D" matures over the next few years.
Re: Oilers "D": Ceci paired with Nurse spells DISASTER!!! Neither are great "D" and they underwhelmed playing together this past season. If that's the best the Oilers can do…..they're in trouble!!!
Re: Crosby: as a Habs fan I'd love to see him in a Habs sweater to wrap up his career BUT it isn't going to happen. He either stays in Pitt or arranges trade to Avs to try & win a Cup with Nate.

Long shot possibility, regarding Crosby's future in Pittsburgh: he stays on for this year's campaign and then quietly retires and walks away from the game in 2025. After all, he's pretty much done it all and won it all, at this point in time, so why not give it one last big 110% effort and then ride off into the Pittsburgh sunset while you're still clearly playing at the top of your game🤔?
Unlikely, I know, but SC will always be a legend in Pittsburgh, no matter what he decides, so could it happen…🤔?!

Guhle In my opinion is a sure fire top 4 D, especially with how good of a skater he is, with the physicality in his game, He can play big minutes.. This is a big win for the Habs, When that deal has 3 years left it’s gonna look like a massive steal in my opinion. With the cap going up in the next 4 seasons his deal will look like a 3 million dollar contract against the cap… His deal doesn’t kick in until after this season so 4 years from now he’s got 3 years left, It’s just a great signing… Of course there is risk that he could get injured but if he does we get LTIR, If he stays healthy this is massive for Montreal, Same with Slafkovsky…

A bit off topic b/c he wasn't mentioned in today's vid, but the Laine situation is perplexing. I've seen zero indication from him in the last 2 plus years that he's interested in playing hockey. Yes, he's had personal issues, but trading for him even if CBJ retains seems crazy. Suddenly he's going to flip the switch and play like he did in his best WPG days?
In fact, it's such and ill-advised move imo that the always overrated Kyle Dubas will do it.
Don't sign Crosby trade him to the Oilers or Canucks after the all-star game. Trade Crosby and Marcus Pettersson to the Oilers for Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, Matthew Savoie, Sam OReilly, and a 1st round pick. Sid can win the Cup for Canada building his legacy. Sign Sid to the Pens on a 1 year deal next year and trade him and Geno to the Colorado Avs for Calum Ritchie, 1st round pick, etc. Turn Crosby into a Stanley Cup mercenary and rebuild the Pens in 2-3 years while 87 plays elsewhere for the Cup while simultaneously rebuilding the Pens. The Canucks have prospects Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Tom Willander, Elias Pettersson (Dman), Aatu Raty, and Jett Woo. Trade Sid a minimum of 2 times and the team will be rebuilt. By trading Sid the team will also drop to the bottom of the league standings leading to top 5 lottery picks. Gavin McKenna will be availabe in 2 years when Sid and Geno should be traded together to the Avs. 87 and Marcus Pettersson will be 50% salary retained if traded this year. That's my idea to keep Sid a Pen, rebuild the Pens, and get Sid on a Cup team.
