On July 30, 2005, the Kings selected Anze Kopitar 11th overall in the NHL Draft. Kopitar holds franchise records for games played (1,373) and assists (792), and is 97 points shy of becoming the Kings' all-time leader in points.

    Second best player in the draft behind Crosby but no one even knew where Slovenia was so they passed him over 9 time before the Kings lucked out
