The Coach also discusses the projected defensemen roster for the upcoming season for the Canadiens and the key battles for open spots at the main camp.

I agree with you, coach, I don't want to see Beck playing only 8mins per game in MTL, but I think it could be worse than that.
He turns 21 in 2025 so he is eligible to play another season in the CHL. Same for Mesar.
That could end up happening because of the lack of space.
Guaranteed to be on the Habs roster: (10 forwards, 5 defensemen, 2 goalies)
Slaf, Suz, Caufield, Dach, Newhook, Dvorak, Gallagher, Anderson, Evans, Armia
Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Barron, Savard
Motembeault, Primeau
Will be competing for the 11th-12th-13th forward spot:
Roy, Pezzetta, Heineman, Barre-Boulet, Beck, Mesar and F-Xhekaj.
I think Roy will get a spot for sure.
I think Pezzetta also but he'll be healthy scratched by default.
In my opinion, the 12th spot will be Heineman or Barre-Boulet, but I think Heineman makes the most sense.
Barre-Boulet will be able to complete that veteran Quebecois 1st line in the AHL with Gignac and Dauphin.
If Mesar, Beck or F-Xhekaj outplay Roy, Pezzetta and Heineman, Kent Hughes would have a head ache. LOL
There's one starting 6 D spot and possibly 2 healthy scratched open for: (6,7,8)
Hutson, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Harris, Struble
Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher will not be healthy scratch though.
So I think only one of them is going to make the team.
Harris and Struble will win 7th and 8th spot by default.
Assuming Hutson, Roy, Pezzetta and Heineman makes the Habs roster…

2- put Condotta and Perreault on the healthy scratch.
3- put Mesar and Beck on the roster

Very happy with the signings of Arber and Ghule. I was actually surprised how low Arber was able to be signed. Ghule i was expecting to be between 5-6m depending on term, which im very happy with. So far Habs management have given out great low risk contracts. Low risk high reward. Love it 🙂
I feel it will be Matheson and guleah Savard and Hutson Barron and xhekak with Harris
Two great contracts for depth D-men who have a "little extra" offense and toughness.
