The Leafs haven't had a bonafide goaltender since Belfour. That is the key. They haven't had a great defensive pairing since Kaberle and McCabe. John Ferguson Sr. screwed the WPG Jets, just like his son screwed the Leafs twenty years ago. It has taken this long to recover. I am very interested to see what the Leafs goaltending will be like this year and if Tanev and Rielly gel I think the Leafs can seriously make a run for the cup. We need McCann, Robertson, Knies and Domi to take some of the heat off the core 4. Let's hope Berube can out coach other teams come playoff time because Keefe and his one dimensional approach was atrocious over his tenure despite his winning record during the regular season.

I had big hopes for Wellwood, but the team was already in a downward spiral by then. Remember when the Leafs franchise didn't re-sign Sundin? Why on the green earth they let him retire a Canuck is beyond belief 🥺
