Former New York Rangers defenseman Matt Gilroy who coached EJ Emery for 2 seasons with the USNTDP ended up giving some very high praise to the Rangers top draft pick from the 2024 NHL Draft who was taken 30th overall in the 1st round. EJ will take his talents to the University of North Dakota at the NCAA to continue his development.

Can’t wait!
Getting D who are proficient in the D-zone is very important these days with all the emphasis on offensive defencemen. My only concern with Emery is how he will do physically against big forwards on the boards. When your D control the boards in the D-zone you win.
I think EJ has some upside but I must admit, I don't know much about Emery. For the pick we got EJ at, it was a solid pick. We shall see if he has what it takes over the next few years.
