Nashville Predators Trade Cody Glass to Pittsburgh Penguin: The Deal, the Decision, and the Details

Yesterday the Nashville Predators announced they had traded Cody Glass to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and on today’s Locked On Predators we take a closer look at the deal, the decision, and what it means for both the player and each organization. We detail what Nashville gave up and why the Predators needed to make this move ahead of the 2024-25 season beyond the salary cap. We explain why the optics of the trade and the decision to part ways with a promising player could lead to a false narrative for both Glass and the Predators organization, and finally we share the one piece of advice we have for Kyle Dumas and Mike Sullivan to make Cody’s transition to the Steel City most successful.

  1. Tnx for the pod. Hard decision mode, I gotta say I'd keep Fabbro 10/10 times when the franchise is in win now modus. I mean- Fabbro can still have to go
due to these RFA contracts also having to be solved, what do I know. Glass has too many intangibles going for him in the situation Preds is in now.
Hopefully he can prosper as a Pen

  2. With the right linemates, Glass can be a good middle six center. It's a great pick-up for Pittsburgh, who also get a 3rd rounder. Trotz had to dump a salary after his free agent shopping spree, and his only other options were Fabbro, Novak and even Sissons. Novak has shown more offensively, but given his poor playoff performance, I wonder if he would've been better to deal than Glass.

  3. What I don’t understand is why the preds seem more interested in parssinen that glass, I would take glass over parssinen anyday

  4. Excellent podcast ladies, this move is a great one for Cody, no matter how much its hurts yo see potential top six yalnet be traded, he needs a fresh start.

  5. Preds get their cap relief, Pens get Cody plus picks for about nothing, Cody gets a fresh start with potentially more playing time with the Pens. To be honest, this is a positive for Cody in the long run, if he works hard and stays healthy, he will do well there.

due to these RFA contracts also having to be solved, what do I know. Go Preds

  7. Pens fan here, I think an environment like i Pit might be just what he needs surrounded by a winning culture and guided by some of the best players to ever put on skates, not expected to carry a team just contribute effectively and learn

  8. The opening statement was 100% the exact reaction I expected from ann when I heard the trade news yesterday 😂
