Leon Draisaitl, who has one year remaining on the eight-year, $68M contract he signed in 2017, told the media on Wednesday that he will take some time to assess his future. And of course Connor McDavid will resign and Leon. Possible to even bring back Brown and Henrique. Yeah Leon knows his best chance is right where he is and will get paid.
What's to speculate about? He says what every player says…whatever his agent tells him to. And it's going to always be nice things about whomever his agent is negotiating with at the time.

I watched the interview and I wasn't catching the vibes all these folks are talking about at all. I say Oilers need to go cup or bust this season and cut your losses. If you at least get a cup out of this era then you're good. But like every team in the league… life happens, things change, people (players) desires in life change, players get older and want to spend more time with aging parents. I think people sometimes forget these superstars are also people, with the same problems all people have.
Leon and Connor are steam-rolling towards their 30's. I for one absolutely don't expect them to extend for a number of reasons. But hey… on the bright side if they do extend. You can enjoy an aging core, and it's subtle decline. Sadly, these guys best years are behind them, and though I think they will still put up good numbers for the next 6 seasons… age is age, and it's going to hit them like it does everyone else.
In my thinking they both have about 6 productive years left, and the clock is ticking.

Here is the deal on whether Draisaitl resigns..He turns and says to Mcdavid " Are you resigning next year?"..If Mcdavid says : "Yes" Draisaitl stays..If Mcdavid says " I''m leaving". then Draisaitl goes elsewhere..simple as that.
