No we're not lmaooo. In Stevie we trust!
LGRW!!!
Most of the people complaining are too casual to realize exactly how bad the roster situation in Detroit was vs what he walked into in Tampa. They also don't realize that this isn't the NFL where you can turn your team's identity and trajectory around in 1 or 2 good drafts. You have to get insanely lucky, almost impossibly lucky to do the same thing in the NHL and even then, it still takes years to reap those rewards.
And Yzerman literally told us this wasn't going to be an overnight rebuild. He stressed that it would take time.
I still believe in the greatest NHL Captain of all time.
I do not agree. As a wings fan, people do not understand how bad we were in the 2019-20 season. It is not easy to build up from what Yzerman inherited. It is taking time, but every year we are improving and should be more than likely to make the playoffs next year following the trend. Granted, we haven't made and splash signings or overpaid on any big name players (besides the nasty Holl contract), there is a youth movement that is being built for long term success. We will hopefully see some more of those Yzerman draft picks make the team out the gate this year and provide those unruly fans with some hope.
Trolls are real. Real Wing fans understand what is going on. The rest make no sense and are just looking for a response to their negativity.
Yzerman voluntarily took a pay cut to bring Brett Hull onto the team. He's looking for players with the willingness to take a pay cut to get a chance at the cup. Players like Raymond and Seider, who have probably the most hated NHL rival player to the Red Wings as their agent, are wanting paid $,$$$,$$$ and not take bridge contracts. That would remove any cap space and prevent the chance to acquire new players. Yzerman's drop in confidence is directly related to paying to get rid of Walman, not signing Raymond & Seider, and the questionable acquisitions of Copp, Holl, & Petry.
If that is true then Red Wings fans are idiots. The Yzer-plan is working.
He's got to go. The Walman situation was enough.
lol. Wings will be legit contending in 2 years. Team is about to be much younger and well rounded..
These are what you call casual fans. People who know nothing about hockey and how building a team works. You can’t blame them for being ignorant. Anyone upset we didn’t make the playoffs last year would be just as upset when we got destroyed by the rangers. Only thing I question Stevie on is that we didn’t tank longer. A chance at conner bedard would have been nice. It’s funny we stopped being a bottom 3 team as soon as the nhl fixed the lottery odds for us
Let,s call it like it is,,, Stevie has made some good pick,s ,,but we still have to wait and see as there are only 2 playing at this point,,, Stevie has made some BAD signings..overpayed and gave long term,,Copp, Woll,, Charoit,, one D man escapes me,,a Michigan native,,then there,s the Wallman trade,,,so yes Stevie has not scored a perfect score,,,he needs to show some imprvoement in the next 2 years at the most,,some of the kids need to show up in the show,,,the Habs,,the Sabers and Sens have some nice young talent as well coming up..And lastly,,the Wings NEED to play tougher !! they are a soft team and would not go far if they made the playoffs.. I,ve been watching this team since 58 and had many good years,,when they won they always had some tough guys from Linsay to Macarty,,, Good luck to Stevie..
No faith lost, he's fixing what Holland screwed up. Rebuild the right way takes time.
People are so impatient and have no idea what kinda dangerous team yzerman is building
No we aren’t losing hope only the fake fans are – to many ppl expected way to much we are lucky Stevie came in with the issues we had in office lol we are fine lol 😂
Edvinson, Johanson, and Bergrenn will play their first full seasons and provide us with something to be hopeful about internally; will any other prospects make the roster???
Tarasenko will be a big boost literally as he is a big, scoring winger with a good shot and goes to the net; he will complement our smaller wingers nicely in the top 6
Yzerman's mistakes have been in UFA signings for too much term and too much money. But they haven't been inexplicable mistakes or ones made without some means of reasonability, and if they had gotten just one more point this past season, those moves would have served their respective purposes. Yzerman came into one of the worst Cap and Player Development situations the league has ever seen, and he has gotten the team to respectability and a Top 5 farm system in just a few short years. This with ZERO lottery luck and while being in one of the most competitive divisions in the NHL. Even if the Red Wings take a step back this year, the core group of guys that Yzerman has drafted and developed will likely be one of the most competitive teams in the league over the next 10-15 years. The Red Wings Cup Window should be from 2027-2032 and I would bet that they make (at least) a Conference Finals in that span. Fans in Detroit still aren't used to missing the playoffs, and 8 years is an eternity. But it takes about 10 years for a rebuild to take place if you do everything right, and Ken Holland did so many things wrong that 15 years is about on par for what it should have taken for Detroit to go from one serious Cup Contention Run (2013 is the last time that was the case) to the next.
The roster is not too far off. Couple of missteps but nothing detrimental to the long term success. They really need to make the playoffs this season though and may need to trade for a defenseman at the deadline since the Trouba deal fell through.
Yep you say rebuild through the draft then sign 13 players as FAs last year? Duplicitous. Period. The youth is stacking in the AHL while few positions exist in the NHL. Merit Should Rule The Movement of players, and guys like Berggren and Edvinsson belonged last year. That way you could infuse another couple rookies that may qualify to be integrated like Johansson and Mazur or Söderblom, take 2. Time to get young, shed some poor contracts like Copp, Husso… Petry… It's past time.
