This team looked ready, but ran into a modern dynasty in the Final that year.

  1. Nesterov wasn't even a defenseman we put him on the wing and he seem to do better there really he was a hybrid that didn't do well at any position

  2. If only Tampa was healthy in this series. We all knew about Kucherov’s dislocated shoulder, Bishop’s torn groin, and of course Johnson’s broken wrist. This tainted our effectiveness, especially Johnson. He was unbelievable that postseason. It’s taken me awhile to get over all the dumb calls, like when Shaw lifted Bishop’s pad and they said it was a good goal, or even the dumb plays like when Bishop and Hedman collided. The series was close. Not one team had a 2 goal lead until he very end of Game 6. If Tampa holds onto the lead they had in Game 1 then they go up 3-0 and they probably win. But hey it’s history now.

  3. Just win another cup already Tampa..saw they traded Budaj and Kunitz is gonna resign, I expect a small roster shakeup.

  4. One of my favorite hype goals of all time was from that finals where Hedman had a beauty stretch slap pass to Callahan who wired a slapper bar down on Crawford.

  5. I felt that way too Shannon, but I wonder about Stamkos now. I think he has too many injuries now. Hedman is great though.

  6. Beining a Hawks fan this was the series that scared me the most because in the from the Stanley Cup Final from 2010 2013 2015 because I had the bad felling Tampa was going to win it and I was saying this team is no joke they are one team that scared me.

  7. What gives Steve Yzerman and really any GM of any pro sports franchise in the state of Florida in a league that has a salary cap is the fact that Florida doesn’t have a state tax so they’re able to pay players less money in the salary and say look we’re offering you a lower salary but if you come here there’s less taxes so therefore you end up having the same amount of money in your pocket even though you’re getting paid less. I know this because I live in Florida and I’ve seen other GM’s for other teams do it as well for example Pat Riley for the Miami Heat in 2010 paid LeBron Wade and Bosh significantly less money but they had relatively the same amount in their pockets because of no state taxes.

  8. If they can keep their core together. They'll win a few more cups. Still hurts that they won it 2004 but be nice to see the current core get a win.

  9. Bishop played that final round with a torn groin – which we didn't know at the time but we all knew something was wrong with him – but a God damn torn groin? Wow. He said he tore it in the second period of game 2. On the NBC broadcast they kept showing him during the TV timeouts looking like he was in serious pain and barely able to move – then when the puke was dropped he was ready, but watching that full playoffs he just wasn't able to move like he normally did. I wish he had been a bit more healthy, and I say a bit since I know guys are never healthy by the end of a cup run, but God damn, he was playing with a torn groin… Oh, and the teams leading scorer, Johnson, broke his hand in the final as well.

  10. I hope to see Tampa win a cup with this group of players. I personally know Brayden Point and they're a fun team to watch.

  11. This one still stings. People forget Tyler Johnson played with a broken wrist and Ben Bishop with a torn groin. Throw in an invisiblw Stamkos and we still pushed the Blackhawks to six. Sucks. Really feels like this is one that got away. All things square Tampa should have won this
