My All Time Favorite Detroit Red Wings

Alright, here are my favorite Wings of all time, a team that usually took out a team I cheered for. Sometimes it was Vancouver and sometimes it was Dallas.

  1. My first ever Red Wings Jersey was a Chris Osgood Jersey it’s a shame he isn’t in the hall of fame.

  2. Crazy that I’m only seeing this list now, but it really warms my heart to see you put Holmstrom at number 5. He was always the grit in front of the net the team needed and from what his teammates have said, the bright spot in the locker room.

  3. Osgood is like 4th all time in win percentage, he retired top 10 in wins, 3 cups, scored a goal. He does actually have cream of the crop numbers

  4. Yzerman played on one knee in 2002, yes. He also played 11 games in the 01 season/playoffs on a broken leg as well

  5. Yzerman, Probie, Kocur, Dats, Hank, Shanny, Mac, Dino, St. Nik, Sergei, Vladdy, Drapes, Gallant, Kronner, the Professor, Danny Gare (Kidding)

  6. 100 percent agree about Ozzie. He was fantastic and you’re absolutely right he won that 08 cup and shoulda won in 09 to. Apparently Babcock screwed that one up. Plus the league clearly wanted Crosby to win cause the year the wings won all the highlights showed the penguins beating the wings. If you don’t believe that watch what is good has to say about it after they won the cup in 08

  7. Why is Fetisov not ranked? He is a HOF and IHOF member and one of the best defenders of all time. He was the leader of the Green Unit and won so many international titles…
I would love to see a comparison between the KLM line and the Russian Five.

  8. that year was brutal for the redwings 95-96 record breaking season only to fall short to colarodo avalanche that went all the way that year to carry Stanley home for the first time since exspantion from nordics ?

  9. You’re literally made of hockey. This is like if a puck could talk and had thumbs to make videos. 🍻

  10. I never would could have foreseen how good of a player that Bert has become. Great list.

  11. Love the list.. as a life long Wings fan I can't argue with many of your points. Cheveldale and Gallant were before my time.. but Kozlov, Holmstrom were always underrated to me and I think it's because those teams were so stacked with all stars that they flew under the radar. Good stuff though, cheers!

  12. I wonder if Osgood would've had more consideration for the Hall if the Wings had repeated in 2009. He was fantastic that playoff run.

  13. I was born in ‘88. Larionov was fantastic but Federov was a better player. Honestly you switch those 2 and you nailed this aside from the guys you picked before the 90s (just my opinion). Steve Yzerman is the greatest Red Wing of all time in my opinion. He was the glue that won those cups. And Federov should be 2 or maybe 3 putting Lidstrom at 2.

  14. Tim Cheveldae! Tim Cheveldae? Is this guy related or something……no Shanahan? no Hasek? I see that this guy goes back to the Dead Wing era with Reed Larson…he should set a year (from-to) so that we know how far this guy is going back. I am assuming the end of the 70s till now.

  15. I'm a Wings fan and I have no idea how I missed this video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on my favourite team! Don't worry about it "not lining up with the opinions of Red Wings fans", that doesn't matter, we are here for your opinion.

  16. There is Kozlov and no Shanahan??? I am russian, but Shanahan must be there instead of Kozlov. Please!

  17. As an Avalanche fan who was a kid in the mid-to-late 90's… F*** this entire list up your tailpipes, Detroit! 🤣✌️
NGL, got mad respect for Federov, Shanahan and Yzerman tho

  18. I couldn’t agree more about Chris Osgood. Even in Michigan, there’s debate within the fanbase. I don’t understand it.

  19. Fedorov a damn solid player? Ok he wasn't the most consistent player in the world, but when he was on, he was the the most skilled player i've seen at top speed, i'd rank him above stevey y

  20. an incredibly biased rating, very far from reality … Larionov is 4 positions higher than Fedorov))) Larionov is a great player, but he came to Detroit at the end of his career. he did a lot for the team, but he wasn't a core player. Fedorov was a pivotal player. I am 100% sure without Fedorov the team would not have won 3 Stanley Cups in the 90-00s and would not have become a dynasty team. Larionov could not create such dominance on the site in speed and physical struggle as Fedorov. He could not create such a sense of danger for the opponent. Larionov is a terrific master, but he mostly played clean pucks. Fedorov created these conditions by dominating decision-making speed, skating speed and physical combat.

  21. I think most Wings fans who watched Datsyuk and Zetterberg's careers love them equally, but for the sake of discussion, I consider Zetterberg my favorite player. He was obviously skilled, but where Datsyuk made his impact through creativity and talent, Zetterberg was sheer willpower. His best goals and plays were a result of effort more than dekes, speed, or having a great shot.

  22. I remember Tim Cheveldae. He played a TON of games in the early 1990s, and put up some good stats in the regular season (for that time period). Unfortunately, that didn't translate into playoff success. He was pretty much run out of town after the 1993 playoff loss to the Leafs.
Chevy was a little like Manny Legace in the early 2000s: good in the regular season, subpar in the postseason.

I agree with you on Chris Osgood. Criminally unappreciated net minder. I think he gets into the HOF eventually, but may have to wait awhile.

  23. As a Brit I got into hockey though the NHL 98 demo. I played as the Wings. Then watched the real game. I no longer watch hockey but have a nostalgia for late 90s mid 00s hockey. My all time favs are Fedorov, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Draper and Yzerman.
