Zach Benson headlines stacked pool of Sabres forward prospects, even after trading Matt Savoie

Even after trading Matt Savoie to Edmonton, the Sabres have a stacked list of forward prospects. Sneaky Joe is joined by Hadi Kalakeche of Locked On NHL Prospects, who loves the potential of Noah Ostlund to play in the top-six, Jiri Kulich to become a legit NHL goal scorer, and Zach Benson to continue developing into a star player.

Plus, Hadi talks up Konsta Helenius, and compares his style to Benson’s.

  1. Good insight Hadi; let’s hope the development of the 4 key forwards starts bearing fruit soon!

  2. Fifth dang! I’m super excited to see Konsta and Benson on the ice together for pre-season! Obviously not together but I hope the hype is real for Konsta Helenius.

  3. You believe in the long run Savoie will have the same value as Mcloed does now yet you expected the Sabres to get more for him? That doesn’t make any sense to me. If you see that value for Savoie wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume professional scouts and GM”s see the same? It sounds like you had an unreasonable expectation of the Sabres to find a sucker. It’s the NHL not a used car lot.
While it may not be worth getting overly excited about, the Sabres also received a second player in the trade to play in Rochester. Doesn’t that help with the “value” of the trade as well?
Savoie could turn out to be an excellent NHL player but as time goes by it’s not looking likely if you remain unbiased.
Excluding unpredictable injuries to either player I think this will be an even trade.
Savoie has only played 5 shifts in the NHL and the Sabres have other prospects ahead of him. Mourning the loss of Savoie for Mcloed and forgetting to include Tullio as part of the trade is over-done. Let’s also not forgetı that Savoie is a childhood fan of Edmonton, he was probably thrilled to go.
Let it go guys. Review the trade in a season or two after things play out.

  4. Until Kevin Adams is Dislodged and terminated from Buffalo Sabres organization " I know Kevin adams just make some of the most disastrous trades in all of sports let alone BUFFALO SABRES or even the NHL it's been very bad with adams under management were looking 14 years missing the playoffs that is longest Post season drought I'm all of sports as well it's time to fire adams immediately

  5. Chris Baker has been high on Oslund since he was drafted and said it wouldn’t surprise him if he was there best player in the 3 draft picks that year.

  6. Zach Benson measured in at 5’9 3/4 and weighed 170 pounds at the NHL combine. The exact same height Connor Bedard measured in at, who is always listed as 5’10 and not considered small. Please stop calling him 5’9 and 160 pounds, when we have official NHL combine measurements available online.
