It doesn't matter if you match both, because you still won't have space for the big fish. Kane won't be out all year. You guys are fighting so hard for a guy in Broberg who doesn't even want to be there.
I think the Oilers let both players go. If they need to fill a hole in defence or offense they'll do it later

I say kick them both to the curb for those prices. Don't want to play for the Oilers after that run… see ya. 🦵 use the assets to upgrade.
I think both these moves are to get cheaper replacements. It doesn't make sense to clear cap room just to overpay for Broberg and Holloway and go right back up against the cap.
If they let Holloway go then they get a 3rd rounder back, so maybe they sign Broberg. Except the consensus was almost 5mil was an overpay. Can the Oilers afford a huge overpay right now?
