The Pegulas are dealing with things in their life that are bigger than a game, however, he has clearly not done a great job as an owner. Golisano was transparent about his internal cap and got much better results. IMO Terry’s biggest flaw over the years hasn’t been his unwillingness to spend, so much as his thinking that he knows better than the GM’s that he’s hired. Since Covid, I think signs point to it being a bit of both.

Commented once earlier, some seem to be overlooking the material downside risk with signing Laine. To that end, the underwhelming return is indicative of the low demand.
Because the downside risk is severe: you have a bad player hurting your team who’s burning $8.7m in your cap. For two years.
