Alot $ for a guy always with injuries but for 2 years, Laine still young,and Canadians still rebuilding roster,its still worth it
If Laine can stay healthy and play more than 18 games , it will pay off
Finally, this a good deal for both teams. Imagine when Demidov arrives next year. The top six for Montreal will be great, thats not including Hage, Beck and Kappanen

Is it possible to award the GM of the year trophy now. Hughes is building something special. Even if Laine is a bust, we got a 2nd round pick for Jordan Harris. That alone is a good deal. We should be competitive this year. Power play should be improved with this trade. Can't wait for the season to start. Go Habs!
I’m a leafs fan and I think this is actually a great fit for Mtl but do they have a goalie?
Harris gets his NHL shot. Laine will get the Habs fan support, which think of Kovalev, Radulov, Monahan to name a few, could help him get to a new level. He will pair well woth our young guys. OH MAN, WHAT A GREAT TRADE FOR MTL!!

Laine has to prove himself now and if he gets his act together this will be a massive steal for Montreal..Harris is a good young dman but with no offensive upside and being at the bottom of Montreals dman list he will get a chance to play more so I wish him get luck. the 2026 2nd rounder was a hugh bonus. Hughes is racking up the draft picks….. I see Laine with nNewhook and Dach..time will tell
is it really a huge trade though Laine is a shell of his former self and this is what his third team , Id love to see him get back on track but its been multiple seasons where he just hasnt been it or been injured . dude cares more about his video games then he does his career or at least that was the book on him is seasons past

His ONE 40 goal season he had Wheeler and Scheiflie rining up PP points and that was also his best ever shooting % at 18 but is typically more on par at 12 %.
So realistically he was never a 40 goal scorer and never will be ever again.His ceiling is 30 goals at 8.7 mil and a MINUS player he is not worth 8.7.
Where is he even going to play wil he takle Salfkovsky's spot on the top PP and ice time or maybe Caufield'?
If he replaces Salf or Caufield one of those guys numbers wil drop so then do we really gain anything?
They got Laine and a 2nd rd pick wow.. Aslong as Laine keeps his viking sword in his pants stays away from French Woman and thw red light district and he could score 25 with pp time
There are so many giddy Habs fans in here thinking Hughes is a god 😂 why do you think it was only Harris in return for a 2nd round pick and Laine. He's lazy, isn't physical and thinks himelf higher than his peers.
Honestly if Habs had all this cap space to easily take on his contract why not get a real player for the same price in free agency. At some point Hughes needs to stop collecting picks and pick up some real players for habs young core
