  1. Dallas seems like a team that will continue the momentum from last year into this one. Definitely another year of contention for the Central, West, and a Finals appearance. I do understand people's concerns of this blue line, but I would rather see minute contributors helping keep Hesikanen and Harley rested rather then liabilities that contribute meaningless minutes. Oettinger needs a bounce back year compared to last season. His stats over the final month and in the playoffs were more his average, but needs to be consistent for a full season.

  2. Dallas is one team I don't cheer for. With that being said, it seems that every year the Stars are a serious contender. Once they're deep in the playoffs, they're not. I pick Dallas to win the division, but I still don't cheer for them.

  3. stars aren't in their prime yet with their very young core, they have a 10 year window tbh and otter is a top 5 goalie when fully healthy as shown in the playoffs r1-2

  4. Stars should definitely end up in the top 2. Dallas doesn't really have that cap space because they haven't signed Harley yet. Definitely excited for a full season of Stankoven and Borque. I think they should keep the Seguin/Duchene/Marchment line together, Johnston on the top line was excellent last year, and then have Borque and Stankoven with Benn.

If Dumba flattens Drysaitly I'll hate him slightly less. Still hate that the Stars signed him.

  5. I know I'm part of the minority, but I think Dallas takes a slight step back this year. They'll still be a good team, but I don't like a few things:

    – I think their defense got weaker after adding Lyubushkin, Smith, and Dumba even if they add grit for the playoffs
    – Even though they're getting younger, losing Pavelski and his leadership will be a major loss for them
    – DeBoer is a great coach, but he has a history of failing to change his tactics in the playoffs causing his teams to dry up offensively, and he also has a history of starting to become stale by his 3rd year with that team (aka I don't think he coaches Dallas to a cup)

  6. Not picking them this year to get to Stanley Cup …. lesson learned last year… should be nice battle with Avs and perhaps the Preds.

  7. Maybe its the longtime Stars fan in me, but im not as confident in this version of the team winning the Cup. Maybe once some of the older guys get phased out as the young guys come into their own.

That D is not winning anything. The signings to bolster it on paper at best keep it same as it was. Leadership is also something to question, some of the coaching in the playoffs were bit of a noodle scratcher. I've already harped on the captain as well in the season finale vid.

Maybe im being too pessimistic. Teams regularly fail before they get over the hump… but more teams never get over that hump. Prove me wrong boys

  8. Happy retirement Joe! Wow! Lots of blue line changes. Not a Stars fan, but a big hockey fan who loves the game. Their offense will miss Pavelski’s experience. Enough offense, Ottinger is solid but I saw a few games where he started slow but picked it up as the game wore on. A final four team these guys are. A championship is very realistic here. But we’ll see.

  9. They need to win this year. If only to just get it out of the way and aim for 3 total with this generation. But you gotta get the 1st.
