Don Taylor on his BC Sports Hall of Fame induction and the Canucks beating the Oilers
Don Taylor on his BC Sports Hall of Fame induction and the Canucks beating the Oilers
Donnie joined Rick and Ryan to recap his night at the BC Sports Hall of Fame Induction and his thoughts on the Canucks beating the Oilers in Game 5 last night.
Never forget the Anaheim Mighty Ducks incident & subsequent melt-down on Sports Page in the mid 90's. Turns out, it was not the last night of your broadcasting career. I've been a fan ever since.
Huge congrats, Donnie. If its true that you were accepting during the JT goal, we're definetly going to need your play-by-play on it at some point! A quick story:
I went to highschool at St.Thomas Moore in New West. The Sportspage crew, including Don, shot a couple commercials with my football team.. who happened to also have a Passaglia connection. Lui's brother was a sub teacher there, and i remember Lui being at the school one day (early 90's) and booting the football almost the length of the field. We were all in awe. Donnie and the Sportspage crew came back to the school and did a Q&A for us that inspired me and many others. I wanted to be like Don! It looked like so much fun. So i went to BCIT TV & Broadcasting school after graduation. While that career did not pan out for me, it did for a classmate of mine.. the one and only Mike Halford of Halford & Brough!
You inspired a generation and continue to do so to this day, which is just incredible. Still one of the best to ever do it. Thanks, Donnie. You're a living legend. π
Congratulations Don Taylor!!! The Donβian one making us all proud, so many of us grew up with you being the highlight guy, great stuff my friend very happy for you π
"upstairs where mamma Luongo keeps the peanut butter" one of my favorite calls of all time! Congrats on a fabulous career and thanks for making so many of us fans of the Canucks!
Congratulations, Don! My love for sports owes much to broadcasting greats like you, Jim Robson, Dan Russell, etc. You have been an icon, and I'm so happy that I can continue to watch you through Donnie and Dhali now on Chek.
So well deserved, a true legend in sports broadcasting, and a favorite of Canucks fans , who tune in after every game to listen to Don give us the score in his own entertaining fashion, thanks for all the great years!
It was a great honor to meet and have a conversation with possibly the most entertaining sports analyst/commentator this sports junkie has ever watched. Great speech.
My all-time favourite Vancouver sports broadcaster. His well-deserved induction is a "GORGEOUS MOVE". Congratulations Donny! ππ»ππ§ππβ½οΈπβΎοΈπ
