[Di Marco] As I mentioned on @Stick2HockeyPod , PHI did have interest in Yaroslav Askarov and were willing to be competitive in the market for him. The ask from the Nashville did not make sense for the #Flyers to give up.

A rough comparable for the Flyers would be trading Bonk (A recent late 1st rounders like Edstrom) and either Edmonton or Colorado’s 1st rounder.

And that’s after Ersson had a strong rookie campaign + the Flyers extracted Fedotov from Russian to give him a big payday.

Flyers were willing to be competitive until they no longer were willing to be competitive.

To be clear, I’m totally fine with the Flyers not showing much interest in Askarov, but this tweet sounds much more serious than simply saying “they checked in, price was too high”.

Bring me all of the goalies you have.

Wait, I’m worried what you just heard was “bring me a lot of goalies.”

What I said was, I want all of the goalies you have. Do you understand?

Good, we didn’t need to give up more assets for a *maybe* good goalie when we have two ready to play right now

Goalie prospects flop all the time. Doesn’t bother me one bit they saw the gamble being too high for the ask.

Errson was mid with being overworked more than any other goalie in the league, I’m excited to see what he does with less pressure and stress. Fedotov had literally never even touched the gear he used before, so unfair to categorize him tbh. Plus they just made AHL signings and have Carson and Zavragin in the pipeline. No need to be reactionary.

Flyers reporters need to stop writing to appease X users. They all talk shit on both the platform and the fans on the platform, but clearly many reactionary articles are strictly based on the subject matters deriving from that specific platform.

They should have stayed out of this. Ersson had similar numbers to Askarov in the AHL, and proved that he’s an NHL goaltender last year. Maybe hasn’t proven to be a #1, but neither has askarov. You can’t trade Fedotov right now with the background of what it took for him to get here. And then you’ve got bjarnason and Molotov in the pipeline. Moreover, there are plenty of opportunities to pick up a goalie via trade in the cap system. Ullmark, Markstrom are proof of that within the last year. You only need one of those to work out.

You know what you need more than one of? Top pair D, 2/3 of a first and second line.

The flyers have too many long term needs in other places to package a bunch of assets to make a marginal move at one position.

The ONLY reason Im ok with us not paying a forst and a good prospect for him is because nashville chose their veteran goalie and Im wondering why. We chose hart over alex lyon. And while lyon is doing well, it was easy to see why at the time. Something is fishy here, unless nashville is gonna be a cup contender this yr and i dont know it

Getting the best player in a trade is normally the winner of the trade.
San Jose won this trade IMO.
