Has to be pre-Tom Renney and pre-2005 lockout. My pick is Glen Sather. Not only did he build those awful early 2000s teams, he coached it for for almost a year too. Honorable mention to Ron Low and Bryan Trottier.

I wanna say Torts because I don’t like him but he did well here

Gallant. Sure the team had a good record but that was entirely due to the players, particularly Shesterkin.

Quinn didn’t have the same expectations to perform. Gallant was a stubborn fuck who rides himself out of town. Sometimes in a cab..

It’s likely Trottier but I can’t forgive Gallant’s mismanagement of certain players despite our record under him.
So yeah Trottier.

Started religiously watching in 2012 so David Quinn, though I’m positive there were some dogshit coaches before then

Does Trottier count, as his “tenure” was so forgetful?

I love the suggestions of coaches who brought the team to the playoffs somehow being the worst. You sweet babes don’t recall the dark years.

I’m surprised more people aren’t saying Quinn. Yeah our teams were bad, but my god did he fuck up the development of some key assets. People forget how much of a players development depends on the coach, and how much experience/opportunity the coach gives them.

Idc if he actually was or not but I’m voting gallant. That mouth breather was an unprecedented stupid

I’m saying Quinn. Wasted talent and was useless.
BrainDeer
How about Ron Low? A combined record of 69-81-9-5, finished 4th in the Atlantic Division both years, and failed to qualify for the playoffs either year and a Garden chant of “Low Must Go” as the cherry on top.
