Canucks GM Patrik Allvin announced today that forward Sammy Blais has signed a contract with Abbotsford (AHL) and has also been invited to Vancouver Canucks training camp (PTO).
As well, we learned that Quinn Hughes (along with brothers Jack and Luke) will be the cover athletes for EA Sports’ NHL 25, to be released on October 4.

As a Canucks fan from Finland, I'm excited to buy NHL 25 with our boy Quinn on the cover! I'm happy he's solo on the standard edition cover in Canada and internationally. Go Canucks Go!
Do you think that Sammy Blais has a chance to make the Canucks? And does it matter to you that Quinn Hughes will be on the cover of NHL 25?
Fun Fackts:
– although this is the third time a Canuck was featured on EA NHL cover, only Naslund got full billing. NHL 95 has McLean saving (?) a Kovalev goal in the newly minted General Motors Place. Then we have NHL 25 sharing billing with brothers, although Hughes gets the solo billing everywhere except US or Deluxe covers – so does that count?
– there doesn’t seem to be much correlation between Cover Athlete and their subsequent season being particularly strong or weak. Either for the team or athlete specifically. Naslund’s season infamously was locked out, so there’s no way to gauge Canucks trend after cover modelling. I guess the silver lining is that Naslund’s mug shot provided the only way to get NHL on your TV that year…
