Right now, Egor Zamula and Rasmus Ristolainen are penciled in as Philadelphia’s third defensive pair. But it’s not impossible that trades or great performances at training camp could change that.
Bill & JP debate the possibilities for Ronnie Attard, Adam Ginning, Erik Johnson and Emil Andrae to win a spot in the starting six.

Risto is a big injury-prone concern plus a huge un-tradeable contract. Attard is out of AHL options so he has to be kept on the active roster or risk being claimed. Johnson is a 35+ yr old journeyman who will be the 7th man part-timer at best. Ginning has limited experience & Andre is undersized. Zamula gets the nod as 'the best of the bunch" by default. As for the other pairings – Drysdale seems to be injury-prone, Seeler is great at blocking shots ( which the coach loves ) but he is a penalty-causing liability with little or no offensive. York is undersized, & over-rated as a #1. Probably would be more suited for the 2nd pair. Sanhiem is steady defensively on that 1st pair but provides very little offense. Recent drafted Bonk & MacDonald are several years away from making an impact on the big club.
