One of the most entertaining and electrifying players to put on a Flames jersey in a very long time.

    This is devastating.

Rest in Peace, Johnny and Matthew.

I think at the time everyone was rightfully upset he left, at the end of the day it was his choice and did what he felt was best for him and his family. I among many other Flames fans imagined a reunion where everything was fixed, where decisions were forgiven and where legacies where built into the core of our team. Oddly enough I feel like Johnny has already done that and so much more for Calgary, the memories he gave us, the excitement we felt when watching him on the ice, and most importantly his community contributions. We really were graced with a true example of “don’t listen to what anyone tells you about your ability to be play the game” and he did just that. RIP 13, forever a Flame.

I remember I stopped watching for a bit after Iggy was traded and it was Johnny that made me get back into this team. This is just devastating for everyone. Their poor family

I know what I’m putting in my Blasty jersey.

And to think that a lot of us (myself included) were unhappy with him for signing in Columbus in the first place. I’m genuinely in tears.

Hockey just feels so unimportant now…I can’t even imagine what the Gaudreau family is going through…

    RIP Johnny and Matthew… 😭

  6. Thanks for sharing. Real heartfelt goodbye. Knew he got a ton of hate for leaving but like many of us, family came first. RIP Johnny hockey.

  7. So incredibly awful. What a star he was for us. RIP Johnny Hockey.

  8. This is a sobering reminder of how fragile and fleeting life can be, regardless of who you are. Take a minute today to hug someone you love, to appreciate the time you have with them.

    Rest in peace, Johnny.

Bros this one hurts extra for some reason 🙁 Maybe it’s because how we left things.. but in what world do we outlive Johnny fucking Hockey? Seriously boys this is fucked up.. call that relative you don’t speak to because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed

This is so heartbreaking to wake up to. Especially a day or two before her sister’s wedding. I can’t imagine what the family is going through right now. RIP

I will never ever forget the feeling of watching his Game 7 goal, rest in peace legend.

Johnnys jersey was the first one I ever bought. I loved watching him play here in Calgary. I can’t believe he’s gone. Tragic. RIP 13.

The Only person besides Theo that was so fun to watch play!

“I hope the people of Calgary can remember me not only as a hockey player, but also as a good person with good values. Thank you for supporting me over these years, and for making my family a part of yours.”

Like a lot of you, Johnny was the reason that made me watch after those seasons with Iggy. That Dallas playoff round was one of the most exciting times in recent memory. My first ever jersey was Johnny’s. This sucks

Doesn’t feel real. So unbelievably sad. RIP Johnny and Matthew.
