Exceptionally sad. As I said in the hockey thread, absolutely wild how this information came to light and spread and for it to happen right before their sisters wedding

I was rooting for him to have a comeback year. I wanted him to light Columbus up. So bummed for his family and fans right now.

This is hard to read. Wow. I feel so bad for the Gaudreau family

this feels like Kobe Bryant’s death in the aspect of it doesn’t feel real. RIP man

Holy shit. I couldn’t believe this when I saw it. This is cruel. I had hoped the canes would sign him out of Calgary a few years ago. I hoped he’d rebound for Columbus too. Fuck this is such a shame

His kids, man. That’s what gets me. They didn’t deserve to lose their dad. At least adults can try to process this, but how do you tell a 6 year old child that dad isn’t coming home? Fucking nightmare scenario. Reminds me of what Patton Oswalt said about his wife dying. He said that was the second worst moment of his life. The worst was having to tell their daughter.

I loved watching him play and he helped me to win my fantasy league this past season. I can’t imagine what his family is going through right now. Also, fuck drunk drivers.

His poor sister, knowing her brothers were only there for her wedding….

  9. Absolutely terrible news to hear man, probably one of my favorite players in the league to not wear a canes jersey. Crazy talented and just seemed to play the game the way its meant too. Rest in peace Johnny Hockey. You will be missed.

Just horrible. I saw the rumors late last night and hoped they weren’t true, even had a dream that they were confirmed to be false, but saw the news right after I woke up. Fuck people who drive drunk or drive tipsy, there is always a choice.

What the… wow. That’s incredibly sad to see and the fact *both* him and his brother were killed, right before their sister’s wedding makes it even more heartbreaking.

Yeah this one kind of stings and puts a damper on this upcoming season. Good dude and nobody deserves the trauma of what his family is going through. Rest in peace

I was hoping so badly that this was a false rumor last night. He was always one of my favorite players that never wore a canes sweater. Absolutely gutted for his family, and a terrible loss for Columbus, Calgary and the hockey community as a whole.

I also really, really stress the importance of not driving under the influence and being aware of both biker and pedestrian safety. If you’ve been drinking, get a ride from someone. If you’re in a rush to get somewhere, it’s better to be late than to make dangerous driving choices.

I have no personal stories to share, other than I had him on my fantasy team last season and rooted for his success. My hope is that all the teams in the NHL will put effort into supporting the family

What a horrible tragedy, just before their sister’s wedding.

I feel so bad for that family.
