I think he’ll be a fantastic player in the nhl but I don’t think he’s generational by any means

I personally always doubted Shane Wright, yeah he dominated in lower categories but his progress seems to be stalling way too fast for how young he is, players his age are closing the gap with him way too fast, it feels by the time he is 18-19 at the pace its going average players in draft will be on par with him. Its just my personal opinion take it with a grain of salt. He reminds me a lot of Marko Dano case.

Quit picking on wright hater. The kid is not overrated. The kid has been hyped for this draft for three years now. Plus he has only played one (almost a whole season/missed cancelled playoffs) season and hadn't played a competitive game in nearly 600 days before the season started in early october. Give him a break. Wright is a bit rusty. And he has jumped up in ohl scoring race. Was like 38th going into nov. Now has jumped to 16 with 11 g 19a 30 pts. in 22 games. I would say he would be leading the league in scoring eventually except he will leave soon for the world jrs. taking wright out of fronts line-up till mid jan. And the guy leading the league in scoring with 48 pts. is nb's coe an overager. So give the kid a break. He has a lot on his plate at just 17. The exceptional status. The hype of the '22 draft. Fronts being an eastern conf./ohl contender. Plus his coach macfarlane walked out on fronts in august to take an ass't job with kraken less than a month before camp opened to be replaced last minute by luca caputi. So he has to adjust to a new coach and a lot of new teammates as most ohl teams brought back almost entirely different and young rosters this season after a one half year lay-off. The kid will be alright. Especially with a good fronts team that will load up for his last ohl run and the pressure of the playoffs to come. The only thing scouts haven't seen out of him yet. I've seen him play. He's quick. Has good speed. And has a deadly shot in close. And is a smart solid two way guy in the toews/bergeron mold. He didn't suddenly lose all of that skill/talent. And he had chromiak a rookie on his line with wisdom who is now at flyers ahl affiliate so he has a new winger on his line to adjust to this season. They miss that physical guy on wright's line. Plus fronts lack a true scoring d man pp guy and are looking at sudbury offensive d man thompson. And word is his d mills ojhl line-mate rags first rounder othmann want to join wright on fronts this year for his last run thru ohl. If you put othmann on his rw watch out… Wright will be fine. And I expect him to be called to the podium first in montreal in june.

Goalscorers are streaky. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions for another 20 games. Even then, I'd still be hesitant to think he's overrated.

half the problem is when a player gets granted exceptional status they're immediately pegged as a generational talent which isn't fair because there's still so much growth in a player at those ages. just because you're exceptionally good at 15 doesn't mean your peers can't catch up or pass you by 17
People call him overrated because he is not gonna be that next Matthews/Mcdavid/Mackinnon/Tavares, its been 5 year of first overall disappointment, the best rookie season the past 5 draft was Hishier with 52 points…
The Habs may not get first pick. Who would you pick at number 2?

I think draft classes will be degreasing and be more long-term projects for NHL Teams. I think that Shane will be a Top 6 type player similar to Beniers. Both the 2021 and 2022 NHL Drafts will be a draft with asterisk and a lot of long term project type players.
Kemell and Lambert going to be drafted top 10 in the 2022 draft. Let's go JYP Jyvaskyla!

He looks have same qualities of Nick Suzuki, both are two-way C, great shot, great hands, great hockey IQ and both have been compared to Patrice Bergeron.

Points that scare me about choosing Shane Wright
1)Shane Wright's general play to me is very unimpressive not showing great skills of a top pick and has a serious lack of intensity. He looks like a 3rd line center nothing more.
2)It seemed like Wright only scored against weaker teams when it was a blowout, when games were right you would not see his name on the score sheat. Shane Wright does not step up when games are important
3) Being a non factor in the playoffs also tells me he's not good under pressure

those of said that Wright is not an implicated player in the game, didn't understand that High IQ hockey player saw the game differently, Wright is the kind of player that anticipated the play so he is not rushing where the uck is but instead anticipated where the puck gonna be! So it might feel that he doesn't chasing the puck all the time, those think he lack of intensity but Wright is a smart guy that positionned himself where the play is going next!
Wright was not the most productive player of his team at the beginning of season because he had rookies (16-17y) as wingers!!! After Christmas, coach gived him regular wingers and his production exploded!!!
