“I hope the people of Calgary can remember me not only as a hockey player, but also as a good person with good values. Thank you for supporting me over these years, and for making my family a part of yours.” – Johnny Gaudreau, The Players’ Tribune
Rest in Peace Johnny and Matty gone but never forgotten.
Damn this hits so much harder now. We will, bud. ๐

Wow. This is a hard pill to swallow. Thanks for the memories Johnny, you were an outstanding player and a better human being.

I was so angry with him at the time, I almost gave away the jersey he signed that I had won from the team on IG earlier that seasonโฆ itโs just bigger than the game now. What an indescribable loss.
Fly high Johnny and Matthew

So sad. Always enjoyed watching him whenever I got the chance to watch the Flames here from the UK, great player. RIP Johnny ๐ฅ

Watching this made me hurt, yet feel so happy we had him in Calgary. One of my favorite Johnny moments that I’ll remember forever: https://youtu.be/FsYfmIxw6_w?feature=shared

I hated that he left, I never hated him for it or why he did it. I hate it even more that he’s gone. How could you begrudge a guy for making a choice around family.

When I was kid I played hockey. I was bullied out of the sport. I took a 3 1/2 year break from both watching any level of hockey, and playing. Then came the rookie year of Johnny Hockey. 2014-2015. I began listening to flames on sportsnet 960 as my parents wouldnโt let me stay up to watch the games. Without Johnny and Monny, and all the other guys from that season, I may not still be a fan of the flames, let alone hockey. This is a hard pill to swallow. You will be remembered Johnny Hockey. Thank you for countless memories. Fly high. I hope your number gets raised to the rafters this seasonโฆ

This young man will forever be remembered not only in the league but for his time with the Flames organization. We’ll never forget you Johnny Hockey.

I live in Ontario, but have been a Flames fan since 1980. Love you Johnny. Nothing but class.
Miss you already. So freaking tragic. Cried a lot today.
