According to Patrick Johnston of the Province, Canucks goalie Arturs Silovs had knee ligament inflammation, and thus he will miss Latvia’s Olympic qualifying tournnament.
Obviously, this is concerning given the news about Thatcher Demko from last week.

I am panicking about the Canucks goaltending. Injuries tend to lead to more injuries for goalies…. both our goaltenders being injured right now is not a good sign of things to come.

I think you may be on to something regarding why the management is looking for another goalie. I like that the Latvians aren’t pushing him to play. Hopefully he is ready come start of the season

He was pulled from the tournament as a precaution. It’s described as inflammatory. He had is expected to attend camp.
BRING BACK CLOUTIER! Hahaha. Is there no end to the misery of us Canucks fans? There seems to be a perpetual Goalie controversy in Van City. The De Smith transaction is looking pretty shortsighted — in hindsight, of course.

Don't know why everyone here is so worried. Last year, the Canucks carried 5 goalies, and they were fine. Because Silovs is still waiver eligible, he can still be sent down, and any experienced goalie we sign soon, will have to back up Demko. They just need to find the right fit, and that's why it's taking so long. I still think it will be Lankinen in the end.
