If that game 7 vs the Stars goes the other way, we’re looking at back to back champs.

I say this as a Ducks fan first and foremost.

I think we’ve reached Bruins territory where every year there’s articles about how this is finally the season the wheels fall off, only for the team to continue to be competitive. Has there been a reduction in talent? Yes, but the leadership, coaching, and roster vision remains largely unchanged. It’s what allowed the team to win the Cup after offloading Pacioretty and Dadonov, remember?

I caution the broad NHL community to not allow its own biases and wishful thinking to discount the legitimate threat the VGK are in the Western Conference until we have objective and definitive proof in front of us.

I feel bad for Stone. Every indication is that he is a man of high character and a great leader, yet people around the league are “sure” he’s a liar.

Those of us in rehab understand exactly how his injury timelines can easily be legit, and even quicker than average, yet he has to face an entire internet of drooling idiots.

I’d argue he’s too competitive to stay out of a playoff game, so he rushes back as early as humanly possible. Anyone who says game 82 is the same as the playoffs can ask if McDavid would be playing game 82 with a torn abdominal muscle, if Tkachuk would be playing with a fractured sternum and if Draisaitl would be out there in game 82 with broken ribs. Playoffs actually matter, so you show up even if you’re not quite ready.

Why is Stone rushing back, barely healed, harder to imagine than him sitting around for 3 weeks, perfectly healthy, but waiting for the playoffs? We missed the playoffs without him, Stone isn’t going to sit around if he can help his team. Even VGK’s own media suddenly have medical degrees and question his timeline.
