Here are fun facts for some other names mentioned in the clip in addition to Mr. Hockey:

Don Lever would be traded to the Atlanta Flames with Brad Smith later this season in return for Darcy Rota and Ivan Boldriev, who were a core part of the 1982 squad.

John Garrett would go on to be a goaltender, colour commentator, and ketchup ambassador for the Canucks.

Blaine Stoughton was on his way to a 100-point season for the Whalers, and finished tied for first in league goals with Danny Gare and Charlie Simmer (one of only 2 times in NHL history where there’s been a 3-way tie, next occurring in the 03/04 season)

Glen Hanlon would be traded to St. Louis two years later in return for a package of players including Jim Nill, current GM of the Dallas Stars.

Thomas Gradin finished his tenure with the Canucks as the highest-scoring centre in franchise history and was later enshrined in the Ring of Honour at Rogers Arena.

Ron Plum’s hockey career stretched from 1967 to 1986 but this was his only stint in the NHL. The 4-2 tally was one of the defenseman’s 3 NHL goals.

Mike Rogers finished this season leading the Whalers in points and would go on to be the colour commentator for the Calgary Flames radio broadcasts for 12 season, retiring in 2013.
