What’s going on with Chicago Sports Network?

First to clarify some things: this is NOT a rebrand of NBC Sports Chicago, as that channel will stop all operations at the end of the month. This is a completely new channel.

This has also been advertised as an OTA, meaning if you have an antenna it’ll show up so you don’t need a streaming service.

Now I wanted to bring Vegas 34 up, as that’s the current way to watch VGK games. That’s also an OTA channel, BUT one thing to note is the channel is not on YouTube TV—only DirecTV and Cox. I don’t know how popular YTTV is in Vegas, but I know overall that YTTV is the most popular and affordable streaming service with very little compromises.

The Knights also have KnightTime+, where you can watch the entire season for a one time purchase of $69.99.

I don’t know if this new channel will have its own app, or if it’ll be on YouTube TV. I fucking hope so, because DirecTV would be the next option and that’s now starting at $114.99, which is fucking ridiculous.

Either way, I wanted to make this post because I got this email yesterday and it’s pretty concerning how little information we have about this network when we are almost midway through September—while also clarifying some confusion and giving an idea as to what it may look like.

  1. Scott Powers put out an article earlier this week that said we should have information “soon.” I’m still thinking we get some update next week.

The only reason I have YouTube TV is to watch Hawks games

Can’t you just buy a digital antenna and watch it that way for free?

I just want a flat dollar amount to be able to watch all Hawks games. That’s it.

Wait, let me get this straight. I will no longer be able to watch Hawks games on YouTube TV? Am I understanding that correctly? And I have espn+, but since I live in network, I can not watch Hawks games there either?

IMPORTANT: I just found out that, for whatever reason, of the 4 teams I’ve found that have recently moved to an OTA channel (VGK, Suns, Mercury, Jazz), YouTube TV does NOT carry those channels.

Like I said in the post, CHSN is an OTA as well—that doesn’t bode well for it being on YouTube TV if those other 4 teams aren’t already.

Fubo would be the next cheapest, but that doesn’t have TBS or TNT.

After that, DirecTV is your only real option after streaming, and that STARTS at $114.99

You can still get an antenna but I’m really not trying to keep up with all my different remotes (also I heard antenna signals can be rocky).

I hope I’m wrong. But I wouldn’t be surprised if YouTube TV doesn’t carry this channel either.

Got a similar message from hulu a few weeks ago. I am not pleased.

Not having any real answers about the new network is somewhat concerning. Especially not knowing who will be hosting the shows.

Buy a Super Box. It’s everything for a a one time fee of $400ish. Google it, it’s legit. Works well, interface is clunky compared to other devices, but it’s every channel you could possibly want and tons of movies and shows, everything remotely relevant.
