I know the topic of Marchessault and his contract has been beaten to death by now, but knowing they did in fact offer him four years and he still chose Nashville to get one more is interesting. Of course, there’s still the aspect of the deferred money we don’t know much about. But it does hurt knowing Marchy could have been a Knight for four more years and he still chose to leave.

If that’s true, we more than compromising with him. One extra year on his contract was worth more to him. Which, I’m not going to begrudge a man, take care of your own. But don’t be talking about anyone being unloyal.

Dollar amount conveniently left out of that quote. And, you know, how long until those dollars would actually get to him. But whatever, tired of this being litigated. What’s done is done. He got the deal he deserved, management avoided commitment to an aging goal scorer. It’s fine.
Man everyone just needs to let it go. We chose to put more money elsewhere and he got a better offer. Cant blame him for taking it whatsoever but they can’t blame the team either. The dude is 33 now.. regression is bound to happen sooner than later. Just facts. The team and player benefited immensely from one another. It was a great tenure and let’s just be thankful it happened. We gave him a chance to be a star and he brought us a cup. Win fucking win
I have no problem with this. The four year deal was more than fair considering his age. I don’t blame him for getting a longer deal elsewhere, but I’m also glad the front office refused to budge.
