Sorry they didn't look great. lost to a bunch of no-names. Hutson was great and I liked the Deputy. Not much else.
I liked Thorpe, Farrell . I thought Protz played well , couple oops plays . I think Mailloux makes the team . Beck , Farrell and Heineman will be a good line as well as Mesar. Davidson and Kidney . Mesar played well too. Engstrom played well . Reinbacher starts the year in Laval and Engstrom and Reinbacher will be the first pairing. Engstrom was also really good last year rookie camp too
Hutson looks amazing and so does Mailloux who complements him pretty well they both played great today.
Engstrom was above the other defensemen in that game if you ask me, he looked further ahead in development.
Beck looked good too, as he always does! 😉

I was at the bell center today and Hutson's offense is NHL ready no doubt ! but his defense scares me… Is backward skating is akward and slow imo.. Engstom was very impressive but he has to put on weight.
Now lets not be too habs homer fanboys. Hutson did have a good game. He get dip and doodle with the best of them, however in OT he had not 1 but 2 partial to full on breakaways and got caught from behind both times ending with no chance on net. Shows me his straight line speed is not on NHL level and with a lad only 5'10' speed needs to be one of his best weapons
I said it at the developpement and even more confident now that Tyler Thorpe will be a solid 4th liner in the NHL in 2-3years from now
Engstrom and Hutson were the only Habs players that stood out. Forward group is mid without Hage/Demidov

lane needs to work on his straight ahead speed. he was amazing edge work, like top notch and elite…but his actual speed is quite mid. works on that and he can be in the quinn hughes argument.
Now this Engstrom kid has to be turning heads…He definitely has my attention. All summer long Hutson,Mailloux& Rienbacter…will they make it and BOOOMMM this Swedish kid has come to Montreal saying StLouis I am ready to shine!!!!! Is it just me or do others hope the salary cap goes from 88m to maybe 110m or 120m in the next 2 to 3 yrs so Hughes can just sign all these star dmen about to hit the big time……LOL!!!!!! GO HABS GO

putting 2 offensive defenders on the same line is not good I assume that they put Hutson and Mailloux 2 offensive defenders who both have difficulty defensively to determine which of the 2 on the same line would play better defensively. I understand this desire and this attempt but why put them on the first line and not the 2nd line knowing that they are already in a delicate situation

What you saw was a mediocre supposedly top-rated prospects against some of the worst rated prospects not dominate like they should have

Reinbacher is still at best a 2nd pairing D (Kent Hughes is words)
But positive to see Hutson is elite at every level he plays. He should start in the NHL right away
Leafs have been a playoffs team for how long now? And Habs prospects are losing to theirs? That's concerning
We have so many great defences in the pipeline, of course Engström was good to watch, but Hutson stole the show.
Hutson and Demidov duo will be the most exciting thing to watch for years to come
