  1. THE HABS ARE CURSED SINCE THEY MOVED INTO THE BELL CENTER IN Q996

As a life-long HABS fan I would like to point out that they have not won a Stanley Cup ever since they moved out of the legendary FORUM in 1996, a horrible decision for which I blame Donald Corey. The old forum was a world wide hockey SHRINE and tribute to all the old greats of the game. The new place has no " heart " or soul.

The old forum on St. Catherine and Atwater is the site from where the team used to travel the " USUAL ROUTE " of the Stanley Cup parade for so many years, as so arrogantly stated by then Mayor Jean Drapeau, and where the team used to benefit repeatedly from the forum " GHOSTS" who seemed to make the bounces always go our way and helped us achieve so many unlikely championships.

I also blame Corey for the ridiculous and premature decision to trade Patrick Roy, one of the greatest , if not THE GREATEST " money " goalies and competitors of all time and who went on to win two other cups after he left. For this brain dead and rash decision Corey also had the complicity of Mario Tremblay, who many fans, including me, will never forgive for this transgression…his arrogance in that scenario was exceeded only by his ignorance in humiliating Roy by keeping him in goal through a rare off night and then exacerbating the situation by " GLARING " at him as he finally and mercifully pulled him.

I worry that this pivotal event will be our version of the CURSE OF THE BAMBINO where Boston did not win a World series for I believe 69 years after they traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees.

Once more observation which has to do with the KARMA or lack of same by the Habs since they moved out of the Forum is that the Native Indians warned us that the Habs will never win another cup at the Bell Center because that stadium was built on what is one of their SCARED BURIAL grounds. Besides not winning another cup since their move, there have also been enough other bizarre incidents and freak accidents and injuries to players at this site as to make one wonder if the " curse " is not true.

Finally, with the success of the old hockey dynasties, Montreal's hockey team was the symbol of the " WINNER " status and persona of the city as a whole and always provided a positive boost to the mood, economy and psyche of the city. This should have merited the team having an ICONIC site which would be a showpiece for the whole world…the world's greatest hockey venue for history's greatest team.

Instead they shoved the team into an industrial style building with no personality and squeezed it in between numerous other buildings, which keep on going up around it to the point where soon we will not even be able to see the hockey arena any more. It was supposed to be build on a large empty site a little to the south where it would be on it's own individual lot and be a showpiece but Corey opted to scrap that site on the short-sited vision that it was too expensive. As a Montreal fan, I would have contributed financially to the building of a unique and iconic heritage type site and a true shrine to our hockey legacy

    PATHETIC.

A sports version of the how to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

  2. actually plante dawned the mask in a game against toronto because Andy Bathgate was the one that shot him in the face. js

  3. Huge Habs fan here, tell me when a team does all of these. Win more than 15 cups, win more than 20 cups, repeats multiple times, 3Peat, 4Peat, and especially win five cups in a row. Best teams in NHL history.. 6 teams my butt.. What about the 6 in the 70's? Just a biased opinion..

  4. Wow. A lot of hate. I am a long time Habs fan. I saw 9 Stanley Cups. They have 24. I want to see the 25th. I also want to see Edmonton win one, which I believe they will before the Habs and soon. I also believe that the Leafs drought is going to end, I hope not before the Hab's 25th, but if not I will live with it. All of you idiots who come on here and spew hate, just channel all that energy into something more productive. This is sports. Its not that important.

  5. 1970-71 should be included as one of the great seasons ever(this was considered a surprise SC victory they beat the Big Bad Bruins and The Black Hawks in 2 game 7 series

  6. The greatest moment in Habs history is the suspension of Rocket Richard which contributed to the makings of the Quiet Revolution of Quebec.

  7. I remember back a long time ago when a Montreal player first put on that Jersey it was all about honor and pride just to wear that Jersey , that feeling now has been gone a long time ago.
