Will this year finally be different for the Canadiens?

The Canadiens have missed the playoffs three straight seasons, but, armed with a loaded prospect pool and another year of experience, there’s a new sense of optimism surrounding the team. Are the Habs ready to compete for a playoff spot? How will Patrik Laine fit in Montreal? Domino’s That’s Hockey examines.

  1. There might be growing pains so playoff might be hopeful, but no one wants to face the Habs after 82 games

  2. The same thing was said about that other travesty of a team, Ottawa and are still an absolute joke of a team. Montreal will proclaim they’re playoff bound after the laine trade and instead will bottom out for a 4th straight year. That’s the CacaChiens season in a nutshell😂🤣😂💙❤️🤍🇲🇶🇫🇷🥖🤡🤡🤡🤡

  3. A real rebuild takes time. We can't take shortcuts. I'm ready to wait so we can build real sustainable success.

  4. While I agree they need more time to cook, I don't think we are weighed down by expiring contracts and have to wait for those to be gone before we can compete. Savard and Armia are guys I'd like to keep for example and I think they are playoff performers. Same with Anderson and Gallagher was looking a lot better last season. A lot needs to go right this year to make the playoffs but it's not that big of a long shot when we consider our offensive potential. Cole should score more, Slaf will be beast mode, Laine is a huge upgrade, Dach might stay healthy, Hutson will generate offense and help the PP. I'd bet money the Habs are in the playoffs next spring!

  5. The team can make the playoffs if absolutely everything goes A+, including a longstanding injury problem that usually sees the team among the league-leaders in man-games lost finally going away. That's not likely to happen.

  6. it could be, but they chose reinbacher over michkov, which would make them more of a threat. Oh well they got a top 6 man at 5th overall

  7. I can tell you guys are not in Montreal, the city is on fire as is the team, you can eat the buzz for lunch and be satiated. It's not a young team, the 5 expiring contracts are late 20's experienced 2-way players and the D-core is maturing nicely, so I expect to hear you guys in November saying the Habs are better than you thought. Time will tell, but the buzz is real for good reason. Thanks guys/gal.

  8. As a habs fan, I’d rather expect to miss the playoffs, than be in the playoffs and be eliminated in the first round numerous times, to be Canada’s 57 year embarrassment. … we all know who we’re talking about.

  9. Any fan with some common sense doesn't expect the playoffs. Just want to see progress from the young core. And players like Dach and Laine stay healthy.

  10. We all know what happens when you doubt the Habs right leaf fans? I’m tired of these so-called “experts”. Let the game speak for itself losers
    Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!!
