I really hope it works out for Marner under Berube, and I really think it will.
My son was telling me he read an article stating Marner has been working his teeth out to get in better shape.
One of the knocks in Marner is his weak play in playoffs against bigger players, and the article stated Marner had put on a lot of weight, which Nylander did also last year and I was shocked how much bigger Nylander was, and hope the same for Marner.
Now that Marner is staying, Leaf fans need to man up and support him 100%!, exactly as brother KC has!! A Leaf is, after all, A LEAF!!

He has been overpaid for his entire career in toronto. Can't afford to pay marner what he will sign for. You can't trade him. That boat has sailed. You are going to just lose him or pay him too much. I think the biggest majority of "real" Leaf fans want Mitch to stay. There's going to be a lot of regret if he ever gets traded.

Nobody is questioning his talent. He is just soft physically and even softer mentally. There are guys much smaller and paid much less than him who are willing to mash it up in the corner and don't skate away from a dump-in to avoid any sort of physical contact. Florida, Tampa, Vegas, St Louis didn't win cups by skating away from contact. His contract overpays him and cripples the cap. So if there is no a deal to be made then play it out and let him walk if he wants more the 5 mil. Or we will just have to accept that these guys will bring us nothing more than a good season.
I liked hymanโs work ethic, I think his 50 + goal season was 80% because of mcdavid but still he knows how to play with talent, kadri was a big lossโฆhe was dumb yes but he was the ONLY leaf who cared to protect his teammatesโฆmarner is a world class talent in the reg season, who knows maybe Berube can man him up a bit
