Honestly never understood the Karlsson move, they already had Kris Letang at a much more reasonable cap hit performing the same role … you don’t acquire a 10 mil + offensive d man to share the load with an other big contract offensive d man. The gain if there is any is tiny and you just end up overspending on a role you had already filled, hell Pittsburgh also had Matheson a few seasons ago, but Jeff Petry …
Without acquiring Karlsson its 10 mil to spend on forwards, not trading Matheson would of made it 5.125 … thats a lot of additional money to throw on the forward group.
