On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, we take a first glance at some takeaways from day 1 of training camp for the Dallas Stars. All eyes will be on the defenseman pairings in camp and right off the bat Pete DeBoer has Miro Heiskanen playing on his strong side with Matt Dumba. It is not for certain this will happen but the Stars will experiment with different pairings throughout camp and preseason. We also learned on Wednesday that forward Jason Robertson will miss most of camp with a foot injury he had surgery on in August. General Manager Jim Nill spoke this week and mentioned some insightful words on captain Jamie Benn who is entering the final season under contract. Plus on the ongoing discussions of a contract extension for Goalie Jake Oettinger who is also entering the final year of his deal.

Except we know it makes an impact offensively. Remember that 73 points 2 seasons ago? Played on his strong side with a competent righty. It’s ridiculous it’s only happened once.
