I want to be more on top of catching Caps games this year and I would like to add their schedule to my calendar. I saw NHL.com had a way to sync your calendar to theirs but I would rather not give a third party access to my calendar I am curious if it's possible to download it and add manually or if there is another way you keep track of upcoming games?

I feel like this was an option in the past. I know I’ve synced it to my iPhone calendar and didn’t suffer any spam (That I knew of)
So I went and checked out the options. It DOES appear that NHL is offering to send texts with alerts etc.
In the past I recall downloading the schedule from the Capitals directly? However I’m aware the capitals “official website” is indeed on NHL so I don’t know
I think I signed up with the NHL and you don’t need to give them access to your calendar, if I remember they just asked for an email (which I just wrote in a fake one and they didn’t even check if it was real). They gave me [this link](https://ics.ecal.com/ecal-sub/66ce015577726a000855f93c/NHL.ics) which you can just load into your calendar. Feel free to use it.
On a computer, go to https://calendar.google.com/ (you might be able to do this from a phone, but I’ve never tried).
Click the gear in the top right, then “Settings”.
On the left menu bar, click “Add Calendar”, then “Browse calendars of interest”
Scroll down until you see the Sports section, then navigate to Sports > Hockey > NHL >Washington Capitals. If it’s already checked on, check it off, wait a few seconds, then check it back on again.
To see it on your phone, go to your phone’s Google Calendar app (not the Samsung app if you have that one, no idea how to do it with that one).
Tap hamburger menu in top left. Scroll down to Settings with the gear, and tap it. Under a section named for your Google account, you’ll see Events, Tasks, and other categories. If you don’t see Washington Capitals here, tap See More. Tap Washington Capitals, then enable Sync. Pick a color for it.
Usually every season I have to re-enable the sync option.
