I know he technically was here for more than one season… but the first season was only for 14 games… so does Ray Bourque count?

I thought no repeats?

Can we vote Kariya and Selanne together?

Has to be Kuemper right?
Brought in to do 1 thing and that was win the cup. Did that and then he left.
Careful_Knee_2489
As much as he is loved, Naz.
He had a great season, but that was in a contract year and he got to be a 1st line center with Mosse and Captain during Macs injury.
epoon01
Darcy Kuemper. Even though he was inconsistent in the playoffs, he was solid in the regular season and helped the Avs get the #1 West seed, which ultimately was incredibly important for them in the playoffs.

There’s one reason I have this flair, and it rhymes with “Darcy Kuemper is one of two goaltenders in Avalanche history to win the last game of the NHL season”

Real Sickos remember both Peter Mueller and Tomas Fleischmann looking like perfect running mates for Duchene for a couple of months, getting injured, and never being heard from again.
The real answer is Darcy though

Might have to go with Kadri as well. Yes he played multiple seasons for us, but his best year where he had career numbers was 2021/22 and was a beast in the playoffs… plus he stayed on his best behavior.
zhack
theo fleury. guy was unreal for his short stint; 15gp 24pts, and another 17pts in the playoffs

Theo Fleury had 24 points in 15 games with Colorado. Does that count?

Kuemper, for sure. Last year of his deal, Cup, then bounce.

Can we get some love for Kadri here? I know he was on the team for 3 years, but the cup run he went from 30ish points a season to nearly 90 points and a fantastic playoff run.
It’s Kadri for me.

I’ll throw out an old name for fun.
Marek Svatos! Never touched the heights of his rookie season again. Had us thinking star for a bit there.

Ray Bourque. Even though it was slightly longer than a season.
TommyBspeed
Gotta be Ray Bourque.

I see Kuemper being mentioned a lot, I disagree respectfully
He was great for Minn/AZ/us
He got his cup, left for a payday, unfortunately now is struggling (possibly due to the eye incident or age). Wouldn’t say he was a 1 season wonder with us, if he single handedly took us to the cup I’d agree
Maybe im right maybe its just me blah blah, fun to chat though
Glad we won it that year 😎

What does everyone thing about Paul Kariya? I know he only played 51 games but he did fairly good in them
Sad-Technology9484
Owen Nolan? Darren Helm? Aube-Kubel? Georgiev?
Does one year wonder mean they only played one season, or they played many seasons but only one was good?
bretthiker
Svatos (or Kuemper)
topbuttsteak
Do you mean only played for one year, or had only one real standout year?
If it’s the latter, my vote would be for Kadri. If it’s the former, Kuemper for sure.
MastaYoda33
Probably Kuemper, but here are a few others for consideration.
P.A. Parenteau led the team with 43 points in 48 games in 2012-2013. Next season was his last with the Avs, where he scored only 33 points in 55 games.
Kadri went from 36 points in 51 games, to 32 points in 56 games, to 87 points in 71 games and a Cup.
Derek Morris had 48 points in 75 games his first year with the Avs after the Drury trade. Next season he had 28 in 69 games and was traded to the Coyotes, which netted the 2nd round pick used to select Paul Stastny.
Steve Moore had 12 points in 57 games in a bottom 6 role before his career was ended by a gutless sucker punch. Fuck Todd Bertuzzi.
