  1. Understand you met Mesar and want to root for him, but Mesar ain't it….he's a couple years away minimum, max 3rd liner. They drafted him so Slaf had a Slovak buddy in town.

  2. I'd say this on Reinbacher : It's very easy for the vast majority of people to notice the offensive flashy hockey stuff but to notice the finest defensive qualities it takes a dedication most people don't ever bother with.
Many who don't know much about the game will think a defender real good when they see the guy block a shot laying his body down on the ice but they won't even notice the other defender on the same team who would never have had to fall down cause he was better positioned, more reactive, skated in strides, used his stickhandling, space awareness, body work etc and prevented the opponents from getting those dangerous shooting opportunities in the first place plus created the exit leading to the next offense while the other idiot was still busy getting back on his feet.
Which of the 2 would you want on your team ?

  3. WHAT? the rebuilds over…. no no NO! get real– Habs have 2 lines; the D is coming along nicely BUT…. 3 rd line……?? Gallagher s at the end; of; with a huge 24 goals/ 2 years; ditto Mr Anderson with only 30… i d say 2 thats TWO more years, plus to go..

  4. Montreal Hab fans are passionate and as much as I appreciate that, the drawback is that passionate fans can also show their impatience and their over exuberant over reactions. Hab fans have never been patient fans YET I was super surprised how reasonable most have been during this new Habs management team took over. But I believe the fact they see this "rebuild" is taking shape and Hughes, Gorton & MSL have done a good job with the choices they've made thus far has helped keep Habs' fans usual "if we don't win, fire everyone, trade everyone!" mentality at bay…for now (starting to see the impatience starting up again)! As for the Mesar/Reinbacher detractors…fans want, crave and almost expect, a flashy superstar esp if you're a 1st round pick…and as Drew pointed out, all players take different paths to the NHL and those who understand professional hockey know that all successful teams need a variety of players on a team…we can't have 21 skaters that are just flashy highlight reel players. I do worry for Reinbacher the most bc since he was selected, certain fans/media have been unfairly critical of his developing talent but I hope he has the character and noise cancelling ears to focus on just developing his game, taking the time until he's ready, and letting his play change the minds of the naysayers. I personally feel this team is on the right path offensively…I am concerned about how this team plays defensively. I do understand the emphasis on the "rebuild" has been to focus on the youthful additions and offensive identity of this team however I am concerned about how this team plays defensively. Watching Hutson dipsy doodle all over the ice, marvelling at Laine & Caufield & Slaf peppering shots at opposing goalies, Dach having a healthy breakthrough season, and hopefully an entertaining power play will be so exciting….but I will also be carefully watching how this team defends when they have a lead, as well as how successful or not they are on the PK. Looking forward to the season! Go Habs Go!

  5. The Reinbacher haters must not know puck. He looked like and NHL defenseman out there and did what he will do for the next 15 years – play big minutes, lay the body occasionally, make good decisions, and break the puck out well. Having a guy like that makes the game easier and smoother for everyone on the ice.

  6. Please dont pull a pierre dorion and claim rebuild is over till we compete for playoff spot. However when u look at all the prospects its hard not to get excited. My only doubt is on right defence. At this point there is no top right d man. Barron has potential, Mailloux looks like a pp guy like a sheldon souray. Reinbacher has the tools but im not convinced his compete level is where it needs to be but these 3 guys have time to figure it out.

  7. Sure u need "steady, reliable defensemen" to win, but u cant win if u cant score goals either… People just want to see more from a 5th round pick, how did Michkov do in his first game in Philly? I think he scored a goal didnt he? Demidov is a 5th round pick, when he gets here, u dont think he will be held to the same accountability. We're Habs fans! How long do we have to give reinbacher before we can say he isn't what they thought they were getting??? Three years? Four? Slaf went thru it, and he got better, we will see what happend with reinbacher…

  8. Shayne, I've been saying the same thing than you since the draft. The rebuild is over. The next phase has begun. The "build" stage. They have their core set. Now they need to develop and build that core. Sure, they might have to tweak their roster if some players don't pan out but if most of them do, I feel they still have the pieces now to build a winning team. All we need to be is patient now. Cheers!

  9. Offensively Reinbacher looked good in the games against Toronto.. He was creative, He got a nasty passing play that ended being a goal, Another that was almost a goal, Kid has soft hands for a D his size… He’s never going to be a PPG D lol, but he’s going to be very important to this team just like Aaron Ekblad was and is for Florida… I can see Reinbacher being a 39-57 point Two Way D who has an elite ability to close on players when defending a rush…

Habs fans think low of him now, But only when this team is in the playoffs they will realize the impact he will have for this team… Other Habs fans who know about prospects know that Reinbacher is a super solid piece and now having Demidov, Reinbacher was the right pick 100%…

It’s okay that some fans don’t have the time to watch prospects or follow them in general, But you should be watching with that in mind, You likely do not know about Reinbacher or the potential he is showing…

we should be happy that this has played out this way lol Demidov and Reinbacher is better than having Michkov and Dickinson for example, Dickinson has more offensive upside sure, But Reinbacher’s defensive upside is soooo elite and he’s still gonna give you 39-57 points one season or in another season…

Michkov has only seen playoffs in the MHL, And he only had a 1.00 points per game in the MHL playoffs 27 points in 27 total games played…

Demidov in the MHL had a 1.52 PPG 27 games played 16 goals, 41 points when it mattered… far better production in a playoff setting than Michkov had, But Michkov did have 18 goals total..

This has worked out perfectly for Montreal they got a Russian superstar who is bigger, Has better hands, Better IQ, Crazy shot but not as lethal as Michkov but still elite for the NHL, Demidov has better edges, Better playmaking, Demidov is the TRUE triple threat, not Michkov… Michkov will still be an unbelievable player but I think Demidov will be better. We also get a Right shot D that can eat a lot of minutes and still have potential to produce, Amazing defensive abilities, If Reinbacher is available in 2024 I believe Chicago takes him over Levshunov, And I’m not the only one who thinks this.. Habs fans need to be happy and just let the process unfold, Future looks bright.

  10. Reinbacher had a better points per game in his draft year playing against men than Seider, Heiskanen, Josi and Just a little under Hedman and Dahlin… 0.48 PPG for Reinbacher in his draft year, 0.49 PPG for Dahlin and Hedman… Seider, Heiskanen, Josi were all in the 0.23+ PPG range… The offensive abilities for Reinbacher are 100% there… I’m not saying he will be better than any of the players i mentioned but it’s a good indicator that the offensive talent is there.

  11. I don’t think it’s complete, our 2nd line played a combined 73 games last year. I think we will be pick 7-9 next year. That’s two more good assets in the first round to play with.

  12. i like you two.youre very enthusiastic .
i was like that at your age.everything was up ,never down or sideways.
dach newhook and laine hardly played any games last season.i do not expect them to have the same production.laine should be playing third line time.im not quite sure what dafuck msl is doing there.
lane hutson is very very good at moving the puck.not very good at moving players from the slot .or going into the corners where he will be smoked.

this is a development year.for msl to grow as a coach.for the team to grow as players.for fans to understand that a rebuild doesnt last 3 years.
for that to happen, things will go sideways .
the start of the season will be tough for the habs.they play the atlantic alot in oct and nov.

fans will see monty get lit up,and if hutsons on the team watch hutson get crushed in the corners and be a minus 2 with a goal or assist.

i as a fan do not expect most of the players that are on the team today.being the ones that bring a cup home to habsland.
suzuki isnt a mckinnion hutson isnt a makar.
    monty isnt a bobo.
i grew up saying the habs would win a cup every year.i believed that.because it was true.
i want that for you young guys as well.
    this team isnt that,sorry
    gohabsgo

  13. I love Shane's enthusiasm, that the rebuild is over. I want to agree with him so much, and I think we're not far off. I just keep thinking we have two more 1st round picks next year lol. Valuable trade assets, or keep continue stocking up the prospect pool. Next man up, build a franchise that won't be handcuffed by bad contracts. One thing is for sure, the excitement is palpable. Nice show guys! Go Habs Go!

  14. The players I liked the most Other than Hutson and Mailloux, because their play overall was through the roof, were Engstrom; Poise, Reads the ice well, Skates like butter. The Thorpe/Tuch/Xhekaj Line looks like a future physical productive BIG 4th line, Beck was good every zones. Charles Savoie went under the Radar for many people despite getting 3 apples, he looked good to me for an invited kid. Finally, David….. Reinbacher was pretty solid, could’ve used his shot a little more tbh but I liked his overall game. Keep up the great work guys we love you!!

  15. Hi guys good video! I have a question thats been bothering me for a few years now. Do all the teams before the draft know who they are going to pick?

  16. No its not. Dach and Laine are not sure values. Same for many defensemen. Same for goalies. We dont have an official 3rd line yet. We dont have a pair of elite centers yet. Rebuild not complete.

  17. This rebuild is not about winning the Stanley cup, it’s about building a dinasty for years to come. So although it upsets me when HUGObhang on to players who are clearly not good enough ( Baron for example ) , they always get something in return ( Honda Civic ) because every draft pick can lead to a star player ( Hudson ).

  18. I always see reinbacher a Pietrangelo like defenseman, you need those defenseman in playoff

  19. One of my favourite player from dev camp + rookie campo was Tyler Thorpe. This guy looks pretty good.
