I have a weird/stretch one. The H-B-K line was absolutely unreal for the one big run. If I am not mistaken, they put up 80+ points together in less than 30 games. But they were HUGE towards winning the Cupnand yet, as a line, they never captured that magic again. I know 3 players isn’t the intent though.

I’ll say Sergei Zubov, dude was a PP machine for the 95-96 season totaling 32 power play points in 64 games. He also had 65 points in said 64 game season.

Also the benefit of the faceoff play where Lemieux told him to spin off his checker, and head to the net with his stick off the ice. Before he knew it Lemieux directed a pass off his blade and into the net off a faceoff win lol.

Jordan Staal. 29 goals his rookie season which ended up being a career high for him. Or Michel Briere…it might be in poor taste but it certainly fits the bill.

Hedberg is the best answer for truly a one year in recent memory (last 30 years)…but I want to give Tomas Vokoun a bit of love. .919 2.45, plus .933 in the post season in 12-13 in relief of Fleury. Helped us get to the ECF and he was absolutely solid there…we just couldn’t score.
Guess it does depend on your definition. One year greatness for us regardless of elsewhere? Or just only one good year in the league and it happened to be with us?
EDIT: The answer all time for us is probably Warren Young.

Hedberg. He was fine to mid afterwards but never THAT DUDE again. I see Zubov but I hesitate to call him a one year wonder because he was still good, just not with the Pens anymore. All comes down to interpretation.

Matt Murray was lights out for about a 15 month stretch. And was never the same.

Warren Young. Anything else is wrong. At age 27/28, 40g in 84-85. He never should have left for Detroit. He’s such a flash in the pan that 95% of this sub never heard of him.
