Are you kidding me

Nhl today – Some awful news out of montreal in the preseason game between the montreal canadiens vs toronto maple leafs as patrik laine went down after a knee with cedric pare and not only for habs fans and potential montreal canadiens highlights and goals this 2024-25 season but for hockey fans in general this is extremely disappointing and you desperately hope it’s not a season ender. arber xhekaj came to his defense and juraj slafkovsky dropped em too but man habs leafs is gonna have even more intensity and I for one am still holding out hope that this patrik laine injury won’t be as serious as initially concerned. 1. On the bright side, fans were starting to turn on Laine and this gives him time to come into the lineup a little bit more quietly. At least now nobody will bat an eye if they give him sheltered minutes and he winds up with 13G this season. He needed that anyway. Fans would have torn a strip off him if he managed 18G and appeared healthy. He is not completely healthy and that means he's still sick, you could tell with his lazy eyes that showed up in-between smiles. He needed time (like 3 years with best luck). This gives him time this year, and with a miracle it might only be 2 months and maybe fans can let him get going at his own pace. This knee injury is absolutely nothing compared to what he has to deal with psychologically still to get back to health.

  2. The preseason is important for evaluating talent, and fringe players on the bubble between the NHL and AHL. They only play six games, or so, and the games are important for veterans to get back into game shape…practice isn't really a good substitute for gameplay.
What I want to know is why are players that are guaranteed to make the NHL roster even playing the first four preseason games?

  3. And that boys and girls, is why you don’t play your NHL players in a pre-season game against rookies going sicko mode to gain a spot on the opening night lineup.

  4. There was no leg stuck out, the guy had his skates spread apart long before Laine got to him and never changed his position. It was Laine who tried to skate through him, the camera angle shows everything and not a single angle shows a leg being flipped out into Laine's path. Laine has been an endangerment to himself since he entered the league, just look how he skates with his head down every time he is receiving a pass. He's been tagged a few times now because of his own positioning.

  5. I feel bad for Laine. Xehaij or however you spell his stupid name, deserves to be suspended all year, fined, and criminally charged.

  6. Preseason sucks, you play regular guys against nobodys with nothing to lose and you risk things like that happening.. I hope Laine is alright

  7. Every single time the Canadiens get a player with great skills they IMMEDIATELY get injured it's a curse for sure. It's the "We can't have nice things" curse.

  8. Laine spreading his legs in a situation like that was the main cause, Pare barely bent his knee.

  9. if you go frame by frame theres no denying thats gonna be a long term injury, I hope to god not for the teams sake but that leg moved in ways a leg shouldnt move.

  10. I love hockey. I cheer for Canadian teams after my beloved Canucks when playoffs and stuff happens? Firstly a fan of the sport, everything said about Laine in this is exactly why you gotta remember that this sport is BRUTAL. Many a player with unbelievable skills and potential have never achieved what they deserved because of injury, personal matters or whatever? The guys that get the chance to have the career they deserve are few and far between for either being lucky or emotionally impenetrable or both. Really hope that Laine can be back soon? They replay though. My ones hurt just watching. 🦄💦😓

  11. Drew is done. He plays like he's 25 still and hasn't adjusted his game. He could be a good stay at home D but he doesn't want to do that

  12. Habs are the only Canadian team I'm a fan of. They should have never got Laine. Asking for problems

  13. Just going to say good on Xhekaj for taking care of that punk. Some say he took it too far well guess what, if you're not going to answer the bell and turtle then that's what you get

  14. I am hoping Laine isn't too injured, was looking forward to seeing the habs make a resurgence this year. We need more strong Canadian teams that aren't Edmonton (lol).

  15. Man, that was on Laine. Pare stuck his knee out transfering the weight from right to left after he bit on the deke. Laine moved too fast to move the left knee out of the way and took a back cut between two defenders. Sucks that the star was hurt off an AHLers knee, but that was nowhere close to "sticking out the knee".

  16. Injured by a guy who will never play in the NHL, what a dumpster fire preseason is
