Kampf Sucks
I sort of like David Kampf but what can you trade him for when he makes $2.4 million for three more years.
Oh you have to give something up to get rid of Kampf. Got it.
I believe that's what Irving Grundman said about Jacques Lemaire at age 34 when he had just put up 24 and 55 points in 50 games, and then 11 goals and 23 points in 16 playoff games as they won their last of four cups in a row and he was trying to lowball him in negotiations. No one plays hockey in Switzerland.
Well Jacques Lemaire did running off for a pretty nice tax free deal to be Coach and player of sierre HC of the Swiss B league.
This was actually the death knell of Montreal as a dynasty winning team.
The is no reason to trade Kampf if a sweetener is needed. Kampf has a MNTC, but nether he nor Reaves have a NMC, you can bury both in the AHL and save 2.3M. That money can then be used on Lorentz and Pacioretty (personally I don't want him, but assume he stays). Dewar won't be ready 1-2 months and will start on LTIR. That combination of moves has the Leaf's comfortably under the cap. With the inevitable early season injuries around the league and the Leaf's no longer over the cap, you can look to make deals without being in a position of weakness.
Robertson has been pretty good? Hes been the best player at camp and looks like hes going to score 25-30. /boggle
