  1. Wide A-stance trying to cut between 2 players, especially a player of his size, is just mind boggling.

Laine would not have attempted that move if he played a full season last year. No one with his NHL experience would attempt to do what he did.

  2. Holy shit. Man this sucks. I wanna say this to Habs fans:

-Caufield is going to be shooting 320+ Shots again. He has a lot to prove this season. And we will see if Habs fans were right that he IS a 40 goam scorer when healthy. This also definitely revived the rivalry. I can guarantee we will see more of this fighting on October 9th.

I know its terrible. And were all of a sudden the same team we were last year. But hey. Lets hope it was just like a dislocated knee which takes about a month to heal. Then he only misses like 6 games. I hope he will be okay mentally. I was rooting for him and it sucks to see him go down like this. But theres no point to grieve now when we dont even know what happened. For all we know he might not even be injured and just had a painfull collision.

  3. Different angle of the hit is available. Toronto player clearly kneed him on purpose. You can see Laine’s leg bending horribly. On review, this needs to be a multiple game suspension, and a sign around the Toronto player’s neck that reads ‘Hit me, I deserve it.’

  4. This is why jurys deadlock. People can see the same thing and come to completely different conclusions.

Bare may not have had the intent to injure but he definitely stuck out his knee at the last second to impede progress of Laine. That much is obvious in the replays provided here. Doing as much is just plain effin stupid.
You're just inviting an injury to occur doing so. To even dispute as much just goes to show how little some hockey fans know contrary to what they would like to believe.

  5. Now all I have to look forward to is the Leafs tanking again in the playoffs… rats!! I guess I'll check out more on Demigod and his progress. Cheers.

  6. When did so many ten year Olds start commenting here? Someone got injured. It happens in every game. Grow up. Calling for other players to be intentionally injured is juvenile thinking by a group of adults acting like kids. SMH

  7. Dude could have lowered the shoulder and hit him. But he stuck his knee out. No debate.

  8. Revenge!!! Let's make the October 9 game between the Habs and Leafs a game the f—ing Leafs a game they will NEVER forget GO HABS GO!!!!

  9. It’s a good distraction for perpetual cellar dwellers! 😅 who does laine think he is bobby orr? Trying to squeeze in between 2 defenders…you’re gonna get crunched! Keep your head up and you’ll be fine

  10. Marty St Louis is such a soyboy and a total wanker, no balls at all. Probably texted the leaf douche and told him not to feel bad

  11. Not intentional and definitively unlucky, but in the context of the game, it was obvious the Leafs were playing the barely legal physical game, which is fine and normal even if a bit much for a preseason game. Coach's message? Idk.

It looks to me like Paré wanted to hit no matter what and the only way he could make up for having zero speed was to shift his body weight to the forward leg into an incoming player, which is dangerous not matter how you cut it. He could have just as well destroyed his knee there.

Laine's awkward "A" framed skating style definitively makes this an instant injury, so he is responsible for trying to cut in-between. He saw the highlight in his mind and ironically, he got clip'd hard.

That being said, Paré is the reason why this hit happened, either because he wanted to impress with his physical game or the game was just too fast for him and he wanted to stop him there so he does not get embarrassed, after all, it was his shot at making the big show.

Either way, Paré just proved that he was quite literally, out of his league.

Hockey players are basically a product now, this kind of opened ice hits should never happens and even less in a preseason game. Gotta protect the players that draws the $$$.

  12. Question is why did we have all our first line players on against their lineup of goons, makes little sense to me, what a waste
